Car of the Year 2007: 41 Contenders, Are You Represented?

A total of 41 cars are eligible for Car of the Year 2007 award. All of the contenders are new vehicles available in five or more European markets, currently or within a few weeks, and each has the prospect of at least 5,000 yearly sales. The voting process has two stages. The first one will produce a short list of seven nominees, which will be announced in early October. The second round will find the single winner, that will be made known on November 13, 2006.

The Audi A6 won World Car of the Year in 2005. It was the first car ever to be awarded this title. I don't know where you found that information.

I don't think any Mercedes's, Jaguars or Lexuses will win. The Q7 may have a chance because of its wonderful qualities (and they have a thing for Audi), but I can see a hatch such as the GTI winning (even though it's not on that list).

i think since the limitations are exclusive for cars offered in europe markets and not anywhere else, this should be the european car of the year, and ill put $5 that says any car offered with a deisel engine will win this year.
