Kids Rock Tells GM And NAACP To Get A Life - Hasn't Used Confederate Flag In 5 Years

In May 2011, Kid Rock stepped up to a Cobo Center podium to accept a Great Expectations Award from Detroit's NAACP, describing himself as humbled and overwhelmed by the moment.

And that was the night, says a spokesman for the Detroit star, that Kid Rock quietly decided he would stop using the Confederate flag onstage.

Amid ongoing protests about Rock's association with the controversial symbol, his team spoke with the Free Press on Wednesday to address the situation. It was the first detailed response from the musician's camp since a group of Detroit civil rights protesters launched a campaign against Rock and tour sponsor Chevrolet on July 6.

So typical for the Liberal Gestapo bullies not to bother with facts.

And the award for invoking Godwin's Law in a single post goes to MDarringer.

Just as a fact check, the Gestapo (originally Hitler's bodyguards, then the secret police for the Nazi party) were not liberals. They adhered to the Nazi party's values, which were steeped in ritual and tradition, both being conservative traits. (Note: I am not equating Nazis with Conservatism, capital "C" conservatives).

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

This article just shows us that people (e.g., representatives from GM and the NAACP) get their shorts in a knot based on what they *believe*, and the meaning they associate with it, rather than what is. And then, some may argue that what they believe *IS* reality.

This could have been avoided with a simple phone call: "Hey Kid, our understanding is that you and your act have a strong association with the Confederate flag, and... What's that?... You say you dropped that in 2011?... For real?... Never mind, have a good day."

@TheSteve - Don't worry, this is Matty's usual tantrum response. What do you expect from a someone with the reasoning power of a 5-year old. As soon as he cannot support his position, he hurls more insults and moves on. He tosses out lies and numbers and and when called on the table for them, crawls under his mama's skirt to safety. I think he was bent over the alter by his local priest one too many times - - - and enjoyed it.

You're right. He should have compared them to the KGB or Stasi.

Honestly who cares, it's just another dumb ass celebrity (not specific to Kid Rock, I think the vast majority of celebrities are dumb ass). It's a free speech issue on both sides. IMO this is what is wrong with America, we a so obsessed with celebrity culture, that we lose sight of focusing on are own lives.

Honestly who cares.
