DRIVEN + VIDEO: The Porsche Boxster Spyder — The BEST Boxster Yet?
When I toured the 2015 New York Auto Show, I have to come clean: I fell in love. That's because the all-new Porsche Boxster Spyder was sitting there in its full glory.

I wasn't the only one. The chief designer of an unnamed supercar manufacturer was quite stirred by the Boxster Spyder as well.

Now powered with a 3.8-liter six-cylinder from the 911 and equipped with an easier top than on the last-gen Boxster Spyder, has Porsche finally built the best Boxster yet? Well, if you're into the pure thing, then yes. If you want the latest whiz-bang technologies and a PDK transmission, this isn't the Boxster for you.

Hell, it may even be better than the much loved, all-new Cayman GT4. That's because while the Boxster Spyder may be down a bit on horsepower, it is actually lighter. That means it is a bit faster in a straight line.

Having said all that, check out the review by the famed Steve Sutcliffe.

The Porsche Boxster Spyder should be quicker than a Cayman GT4 in a straight line thanks to the same engine and less weight, but what's it like everywhere else? Steve Sutcliffe gets behind the wheel to find out.

I can just hear those snap-in flying buttresses flapping and howling in the wind when the roof is in place. Not a very elegant solution.

It's not meant to be driven with the top up most of the time. If you need the elegant solution, just get the regular boxster which has the one best top design of any convertible. The top can be put up or down in a matter of seconds while traveling up to 30mph. The surprising thing is that with the top up, the Boxster is actually quieter in the cockpit than the Cayman.
