Tesla Model 3 debuts in March 2016, on sale in mid-2017
The Tesla Model 3 will be revealed in March 2016 and go on sale a year later in mid-2017. The March 2016 debut would at instance make one think of a Geneva Motor Show debut, but that’s not going to happen. Tesla will host an individual unveiling event for the Model 3 later in the month.

The Model 3 will be capable of reaching 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than 4.1 seconds to run shoulders with the BMW M3. The possibility cannot be ruled out of Tesla offering the ‘Ludicrous’ mode upgrade option it announced for the Model S last week.

The batteries will be supplied from the Tesla Gigafactory located near Sparks, Nevada. The Model 3 will have a range of up to 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge.

Sounds good but it's at least a year late. They should be showing it now and it should be on sale in 6 months.

How is it a year late? Tesla has said it will be in 2017 since they first hinted at its existence. And they mentioned it would be unveiled in 2016 Q1 since last year.

I say it's too late because we are at least 18 months to 2 years away from it being on the street. The timeline will likely shift again and the price will go up. By the time it hits the market there will undoubtedly be new tech and new developments.

Too little, too late. If it is not as cheap as a Prius it will be destined to "Volt/ELR" sales stagnation.

The market for this will be limited to people in California who live near Tesla superchargers - people in that price point don't have the income and life flexibility of people who buy Model S'. The model 3 people will have to get to work, have to pick up the kids, etc. The waiting for a charge won't work for them.

@mre360 - you have no clue what you are talking about. The Model S despite being more expensive than the Volt is outselling it. The demand for the Tesla Model 3 will be HUGE.

You also keep insisting on feeding a horseless carriage hay and trying to breed it which is silly. In-home charging accounts for over 90% of people's charging. 99.8% of trips can be made on 1 charge. There will be no waiting for charge, you wake up every morning with 100% range.

And as far as superchargers go, by 2017, there probably won't be a place in the US that doesn't have a supercharger at least within 100 miles. Maybe even 75 miles.

You know that there are superchargers all over the world, not just in California, and they are used for long distance driving, not your daily commute, right? http://www.teslamotors.com/supercharger

You also know that the vast majority of EVs charge at home and at night so no one is waiting for that, right?
