First Mercedes Benz CL600 Coupe Video Review
I believe this is the first video review of the all new 2007 Mercedes CL. The review was shown on the German TV channel VOX and is obviously in German.

Amazing car. This could be my next car. I'm looking for something more comfy and the new CL apparently is both that and sporty. Color? Definitely white.
Too bad the review was in German. :(

My Aunt had a 2003. I have borrowed it several times while she was away on Cruises or vacation. Wonderful driving car and definitly commanded respect on the road. The only thing it that it was so small on the inside. Even she said, it's a car you buy because you can. It really serves no purpose but to make the driver look great, feel great and say you have made it in life (for less cash than a Bently or Rolls).
Well after several electrical problems and being fed up with its small size she traded it in on a BMW 750iL. She did loose her butt on the trade. Paid around $83k and traded it for $39k. I even tried selling it for her and in South Florida $39k was a fair price at the time.
I will say the NAV system in it was just the worst I have used. They power, ride, and fell was just amazing so you forgave the poor command system....

While i will not call it a POC like BMW_FAN did
I will say that this is a huge step Backwards for the CL model, the previous model was much better looking, this one just looks Stupid (Cannot think of a better description)

The CL is easily one of the most attractive cars designed recently. Both inside and out, the car is sexy and sumptuous looking. The new CL model - to me - is 10 steps forward in front of the current generation. Does the 6er coupe/hardtop compete with the CL? If so, then it would be pretty difficult to define a definitive winner because both will provide strengths and weeknesses in on aspect or another. There is no perfect make or model, just as there is no perfect artist or song by an artist. In other words, if I could afford, I would have a model (of car) for each mood or event :P

i really like the design, imo the last one was weird - stuck with seperate round headlights like old mercs. this looks a lot better.
in 5 years this will cost the same as a new golf gti(in the uk)....i can't wait to get one of these...
MIKE,
you're back!
the 6er is a size below the cl, honestly the cl has very few rivals, i suppose the conti gt and aston db9, on price.
as an actual car it has like no competition.
"In other words, if I could afford, I would have a model (of car) for each mood or event "
yeah, i once made a definative list of cars i needed when i was super rich (and i will be obviously).
it ended up somewhere around 30 cars.
that is a big garage.

Benz is taking a new styling direction which i am jus loving. The slk and S class especially, the CLS looks nice, but certain angles it looks like a chubby drunkard, the S Class to me is the most beautiful of the Benz models as well as its competitors BMW, AUDI, LEXUS, trust me, i am a die hard, BMW aficianado. The CL is looking nice but why is it too close in design to the S Class. This is one of the reasons i started to lose my love for Benz, their previous generation of cars all looked to much alike, which did not let each of the cars have an identity of its own, take the previous gen C, CLK, CL, they all looked to much alike from the front, then take the rear of the C and the S, only difference appeard to be in size, profiles all appeared to be the same, they were just not to adventurous enough for me. New CL looks nice but reminds me too much of the S Class which is absolutely beautiful IMO. Merc's new designs are nice, dislike the R Class, my mom has one, looked alrigt for the first 10 mins, then Chrysler Pacifica came into mind, anyway, CL is nice, like to see it's competition

Is it me imagining things or do those taillights look like they're similar to those on an Oldsmobile Aurora?
BTW, I love the way this car looks.

It's not just you, I was thinking the same thing but i could not remember the name of the particular vehicle till you mentioned it.
Seems to me that somebody at MB played a cruel joke and nobody has noticed it yet. :)

Amazing design this car has!! and the interior is great. MB continues to amaze. It could just be the new competitor for the M6, although if I remember it had 513 hp whereas M6 just has 507. Pretty close though.

It has an RL/Bentley GT look to it. This design will have to grow on me. I still like the outgoing CL. It is still very nice and very rare to see on the roads. There are more SL's and 6series than there are CL's.
The design has some BMW cues IMO. The front reminds me of a 6series or a Z4. As for the interior it reminds me of a 7series. Now having that said, it doesn't mean the car will turn out to be a bad car. Its functionality is probably better than BMW because of it's more upscale appearance with luxury rather than more sport oriented.
In my mind, there can only be so many designs for a car. Eventually it will be recycled or 'borrowed'. There's only so many times and so many ways you can bend a piece of material.
I am a big Merc/BMW fan so i have no biased opinions.
I'm a fan of Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, and a couple others. I'm very neutral.

The interior of this car is beautiful, even better than Audi GermanNut.
The car's hot, they just need to fix the rear windsheild and possibly the tailights.
I'd still rather a 650i coupe, black!

Whether or not you find it attractive is up to you, but there is no doubt it is a very compelling design, and a car I just can't stop looking at.
It has a other-worldly charm and elegance which is rare in modern cars.

Will, why do you have to bring up "Lexus" in every single article posted? Just let it go.
In my opinion this is a major step backwards for CL, last generatin was just distinctive.

Anyone who likes the design of this also, by default, likes the Lexus SC! This CL has a waaaayyy more "bloated" look than the Lexus SC gets heavily criticized for!
Take the Mercedes badges off of this and it could seriously pass for an Oldsmobile, Acura (RL), or a Buick.
=======================================
Will, quit bashing for Christ's sake.
The Mercedes CL is a successful design, many folks have stated that. IMO, it makes the old model look dull. And like I've said, I am really thinking of getting myself one of these in the future.
The SC430 on the other hand is one of the most boring and dull cars out there. When I see one on the road, I always have trouble distinguishing between the front and back. Lexus designs have improved, but the SC430 is hideous. Hideous.

Design is subjective and I don't think the SC430 looks good. The original SC300 and 400 were nice-looking, not pretty, but nice looking. The new SC430 looks like it was rushed into production to compete with the Europeans etc.
Why are you comparing the SC430 to the CL? They don't even compete. The SL competes with the SC430, not the CL. Lexus currently has no car that rivals the CL.

Even the SC430 is rubbish compared to the SL. However, I do like the interior of the SC but for overall performance, luxury, and design SL would beat it.
IF i'm not mistaken the SL is the companies flagship coupe. I read it on their website. However, with this new one it may gain the title. It's hard to say. SL's got luxury but a whole lot of performance. The CL is more of a luxury cruiser. IT will probably compete against the likes of Bentley's GT coupe.

I'm really loving the front end on this car and the interior is a work of art and after checking out the rear end some more I am really liking it.
This car is a certified PCH California car.
I can imagine driving this car to Las Vegas.

I love the new cl. teh redisigned look makes it so much more appealing. And the Cl 63 amg has more power than the m6, let alone the CL 65 amg. Also, the amg kit makes car look ten times better.. m6 is nice but id rather eitehr of the cl amgs, and interior is definitly nicer than m6. an di belive teh tehcnology in the benz are at the head of the game right now, and is more intuitive.
M6ers, step ya game up and get the new CL :D
