Mark Levinson do it again for Lexus

Lexus doesn't seem to be holding anything back. Lexus is perhaps the only auto manufacturer to offer a brand name sound system that is part of the 'ELITE' hi fi audio names.
Other car companies use BOSE, Harmon Kardon, Infinity, etc....while these may be very good sounding systems, these brands are not considered true high end names. If you pick up a magazine which is geared towards true high end audio systems, you won't see any ads for BOSE, HK, or any brand name used by any current car company(even Audi's Bang & Olufsen is technically not part of the elite). Instead, you'll see names generally unheard of by the most people. Names such as Meridian, Rotel, Carver, and yes, Mark Levinson. I didn't really know much about Mark Levinson before Lexus started using them, but after listening to them in my Lexus vehicles, I have really come to respect the company for working so hard to delivering sonic perfection.
Incidentally, the all new Infiniti G35 will be offering an audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® – which combines the industry’s first 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with an audiophile quality head unit incorporating double oversampling 24-bit 96KHz utilizing Burr Brown® Digital Audio Converters. I haven't had a chance to hear this system yet, but will it give Mark Levinson a run for it's money?

NO!!

Lexus' equipped with Mark Levinson speakers are like a movie theater. The sound is amazing, the seats are comfortable, and you can watch DVDs on the navigation system or the flip down screen for the back seats.

sometimes to make an incredible sound doesn't take a host of technology to say that "hey this is an industry first it will be the best sounding of them all". its mostly about just fine craftmenship. great materials, cables and the most important thing about an audio system is not the speakers its the amp's and the quality materials in the amps. not really ground breaking technolgy goes into making amps. maybe a few here and there industry firsts but the same standards that they use 50 years ago to create a good amp are the same today.
with all this great stuff that companies use for cars, it means rubbish if the speakers are not placed in the optimum position.
also, these extreme wattage numbers don't mean that a system is louder or clearer than another its how you use the watts to make great clean loud sound. the audio companies test their wattage in different ways anyway.

^^^^ which is why mark levinson is the best stock car audio system you can put in a car. you can try a buy a better one that in the ls460 but you will have to spend more than $5,000 i believe

didnt they use vaccum tubes in amps 50 yrs ago? do they still now?

anyway that interiour display is kind of horrid. i would expect a better design from lexus. that looks like something you would see in a kia

i'm not talking about old pieces vs. new pieces. that wasn't my point. my point was company's such as bose, labtec, and a host of others use too much beefed up technology to make their sound artificially natural (if you get my drift). companies like klipsch, monitor audio, definitive technology etc., uses high quality materials and less tech to make a more realistic sound without being too organic. that was my point, not vacuum tubes.
