VIDEO: FIRST Look At The 2016 BMW 340i — Exhaust Sound + Acceleration to 200 KM/H
For the 2016 model year, BMW has improved upon the currently offered 335i's motor. Now dubbed the 340i, BMWphiles can expect a turbocharged six-cylinder good for 320 horsepower and 330 lb.-ft. of torque.

As with every motor's update, this is an exciting time for BMW lovers. That's because a BIG reason why a BMW buyer snaps one up is due to the engine and the thrill it provides. This, obviously, includes sound and how fast this baby will get up and go.

As we have yet to properly hear the 340i and see just how fast it will get moving, this is a pretty big deal that there's not only one, but TWO, clips that cover these bases.

As a refresher, I've provided the information straight from BMW when the company revealed the car to the public this past May.

Check out the two clips below to see a 0-200 KM/H run as well as listen to the 340i's exhaust.

An excerpt from BMW"s press release follows:

The new BMW 340i Sedan inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine.
The BMW 340i is the first model in the BMW line-up to be powered by the all-new inline 6-cylinder engine (B58) from the new modular BMW EfficientDynamics engine family. The lightweight and rigid all-aluminum unit with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology provides a perfect blend of superb performance and outstanding efficiency. This new 3.0 liter engine powering the 340i replaces the N55 powered 335i and tops the 3 Series gasoline line-up. It produced a maximum power of 320 hp between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm, a 20 hp improvements over the previous model. Peak torque is an impressive 330 lb-ft, which is available from 1,380 rpm. The new BMW 340i Sedan equipped with the 8-speed Steptronic transmission accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds while the BMW 340i xDrive model takes just 4.6 seconds. All 340i models are governed to a top speed of 155 mph.

The new EfficientDynamics 6-cylinder engine is equipped with the latest generation of BMW’s innovative TwinPower Turbo technology, featuring twin-scroll turbocharger, High Precision Injection and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing. It also incorporates VALVETRONIC fully variable valve lift.

Sure it's a superior car. However, BMW's all now look so much alike that the general buying public cannot differentiate between models. Interiors all look alike. That breeds apathy and indifference.

You mean just like MB, LEXUS, AUDI? They all look the same, even their SUVs.

All the BMW fans say Audi looks alike. I have said numerous times over, ALL auto makers have the SAME theme and common look throughout their entire lineup with only very subtle differences. That's how they keep cost lower and profits up. I'm tired of bloggers saying Audi cars all look alike; they ALL look alike from every manufacturer. Enough on Audi looks alike; just look at BMW, MB, Lexus, Acura, GM all have the same front end or tail lights etc.

Far more difference between BMW models than MB or Audi. As for Lexus, who cares.

Is it me or does the new 340i sound lame?

Interior still looks like it's 25 years old. Wonder at what point BMW will start trying to compete in that regard.

Is it me or the first video's 340i exhaust sounded so bad?!

I drive an X3 and I can barely tolerate the interior design. The 3 series interior is so weak that I would find it hard to consider that car. I also think its time to ditch the handbrake. Its cumbersome, dated and drives the design of the console.
