Will the Audi R8 Look Like This?

Will the Audi R8 Look Like This?
Fourtitude has what is probably the most realistic Audi R8 CGI (computer generated image) that I have seen to date. It seems that the R8 will beat its target production date and actually begin production this September. This will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the plant in Neckarsulm where the R8 will be built. The article goes on to talk about the rumored Audi R8 convertible and the possibility of a diesel R8. Not mentioned in the article but other information rumored about the R8 states that it will come with 440 horsepower. What do you think of the R8 now that you have seen what it is likely to look like?

I forgot to mention, it has been rumored that it will have a power to weight ration of 7.2 pounds per horsepower, much better than the M5's 7.8.

I dont know it's hot, but it's not...

The low profile & wide stance of the car make it look good, but the rear wheels go to far beyond the roof, and the black plastic looking fins underneath the headlights look cheap. From this angle it looks like it could have a mini truck bed (not tottally but you get the idea).

I'll save my real opinion for the real car.

Chewy - great comparison with the M5 there - I suspect all those people looking for a 4-door 200mph car with plenty of room and somewhere to put there golf clubs, will bin the idea of getting an M5 and buy an R8 instead!

This photoshop looks beautiful,AND realistic,, but it wont look like this. well, similar. I mean the cut lines where the bonnet/hood lies above the grille and headlights will be different. it doesn't carry on from the top of the headlights, but under it.. althought it wont actually look bad the way it is..

I'll tell you about interiors and performance logical. I would take an R8 over an M6 anyday for he following reasons:

Better straight-line performance than an M6 (not to mention many cars costing well over the $150,000K mark).

Better track performance than an M6, this will be guaranteed because the R8 has a better lbs/horsepower ratio and weighs 3200 lbs. vs. the M6's 3800-4,000.

Looks better than an M6 (this thing is basically a rebadged Gallardo from this picture)

Costs the same or more than a BMW M6.

Will not drop in resale value the way an M6 would, considering the R8 will be built in very very limited numbers.

I'm going to love when people ask is this a Lamborghini at first glace.....

That in itself would make my day.

Sorry, I listed the M6's power to weight ratio but wrote M5's. Why did I list the M6's power to weight ration. Well, because it is the best that BMW has and it still can't hold up to Audi's new R8.

We all know the R8, at least in one form will be capable of doing 0-60 dashes of under 4.0 seconds.

This will not only make it faster accelerating than any car BMW has produced, but the track times will be better also.

Why are you people comparing the R8 to the M6 ?!
The M6 isn't a sport car, it's a sporty GT.

If the R8 will have a BMW rival it might be the M6 CSL or new Z8, that is if BMW will even make a rival in the first place.

The new R8 won't compete directly with the M6 as Chewy would like us to think.

No the new R8 will compete with BMW's M10 supercar expected here in 2010, with a rumoured engine of 600 hp or more!

Guaranteed the price tag on this car will be more than what it's rumoured at. Audi doesn't want to create a way smarter buy to Lamborghini's Gallardo, make everything about the Lambo irrelevent but the car's badge.

I am comparing to what BMW has. The R8 will be just as comforbale as the M6 probably, but with more performance.

MunichRob its 2006. By the time BMW produces an M10 (if it ever happens) the horsepower wars will have escalated to crazy levels.

I heard Audi is producing a $500,000 supercar out in 2050!

MunichRob-

The M10, if it ever comes out, won't be the M10. If anything, it would be the Z9. And where would BMW get that 600hp engine? Their a$$?

Latest sources state that a 510 hp V10 will be available at the same time as the V8.

Chewy where did you read the updated information about the 510 hp V10?

"I like the Irobot styling here, but I am having major pains even thinking of driving an audi. "

You're such a badge snob that I wouldn't want you to be driving an Audi either. It makes us look bad.
