Baby NSX To Debut In Next Few Months - What Will It Take For You To Place Your Order NOW?

New information from inside Honda indicates its all-new 'baby NSX', which was approved for production in mid-2014, will be based on the same platform as the new NSX but fitted with a less expensive and less expensive powertrain.

As we reported in April, Honda's plans for a three-model mid-engined sports car family, include a more powerful 'S1000' export version of the mid-engined S660 mini-roadstercar at the bottom and the new NSX hybrid supercar flagship at the top.

In between, apart from a successor for the CR-Z hybrid due by 2018, Honda is also plotting a radical replacement for the S2000 roadster, to slot neatly into the middle of its mid-engined two-door line-up.

In the last month however, baby NSX news has heated up significantly following the appearance of a patent drawing of the car, which according to a source close to Honda has “some merit.”

Based on Acura's track record, this car will show up sometime in 2018, so, I am not excited

Lemme get this straight: After a decade worth of hype about the new, 2nd Generation NSX, we're still waiting for it to show up in showrooms, and now, Honda is trying to generate excitement about a yet newer car?

Sigh :-(

These guys have sure honed the formula for getting people to ignore them.

So this is like how Audi dumbs down the Lamborghini Huracan to produce an R8? I think it should be an Acura.

It's too bad they aren't smart enough to put a V8 into it and price it like a Stingray.

Darringer, for the 1st time I'm with you on this one. Acura could reverse its fortune by adding a v8 to this and the RL. These want to stomp with the big dogs but are scared to come off the porch.

I think the NSX would be taken more seriously if it were utterly conventional, with a V8, and aimed at the Stingray. The NSX should be a volume (relatively speaking) sports car because that would make it a better halo car for Acura.

The new NSX will be like the last one. It will sell in a trickle only to the import tuner men who will defend it as the Holy Grail of sports cars and literally NONE of the sports car makers out there will give it a second thought.

The las NSX did nothing for Acura, nor will this one.

A V8 would be a BAD idea for the stretched Accord known as the RLX.

I like the artist rendering :). Is it a Toyota MR2 kind of car? If so it could help Acura, they are not going to ever compete (at least in the global mind) with the Ferraris, Lamboghinis etc... in this lifetime but as MDarringer pointer out above they could compete quite well with the Corvette. Maybe a small high tech, high revving V8 or an insane turbo V6 or even a 4 if it is small and light enough.

All this teasing only further damages the brand
