Jaguar Land Rover Snubs US For New Assembly Plant - Chooses Slovakia Instead
Jaguar Land Rover turned down North America and signed a letter of intent to build a new car plant in Slovakia, a further expansion away from its British manufacturing base.

The brand, owned by India's Tata Group since 2008, will carry out a feasibility study for a factory in Nitra, western Slovakia. The aim is to open the plant in 2018 and reach an annual output of up to 300,000 vehicles by 2025.

Not a bad place VW has a friggin huge plant right outside Bratislava. Wish it had been in the US but no big problem with Slovakia.

Not a big surprise as it seems that the plant will produce mostly Jaguars and small SUV's (and not Range Rovers and large SUV's popular in the US). Having a plant in the US, makes the MOST sense if the majority of vehicles from the plant are sold in the US.

If the vehicles are sold elsewhere, it exposes the manufacturer to an undue amount of currency fluctuation exposure risk.
