VIDEO: The Lexus GS F Lines Up On The Starting Grid, Meets Some Friends — But Does ANYONE Care?
The all-new Lexus GS F is a rather menacing looking beast. When I got my first look at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) I was pretty blown away. Then again, I am a fan of the GS.

Painted that bright blue hue and sitting low to the ground, it certainly looks the part. But, there's one mega problem.

It's so far down on power when it comes to the competition.

Equipped with the RC F's 5.0-liter V8 engine, the GS F will produce 467 horsepower. When compared to vehicles like the BMW M5 that makes 560-plus horsepower, the Mercedes-AMG E63 that makes 577 horsepower and all-new Cadillac CTS-V that will put out 640 ponies, the GS F looks like a guy that's bringing a knife to a gun fight.

It seems that Lexus is trying to highlight that the GS F weighs, give or take, 300 pounds less than its competitors. Something tells me that will not do the trick though, especially as the CTS-V weighs just over 100 pounds more than the GS F.

The clip below is meant to psych up would-be buyers by bringing the all-new GS F together with the RC F and LFA. But, I have to ask: Does anyone actually care?

The Lexus GS-F, being put through its paces at Fuji Speedway, clearly demonstrates its F lineage.

"Does anyone actually care?"

No. Because honestly, who cares about LFA nowadays? And even the RC-F is practically forgotten as well, and I have never seen a single Lexus RC or RC-F ever on the road.

And in fact, I've never seen the current gen Lexus GS EVER on the road, either. So GS-F? Like, really?

The GS is a slow seller. The RCF generates more traffic than the RC. GSF vs CTSV? CTSV!
GS versus Genesis? Genesis!

I've had the dastardly luck recently of picking a new company car only to have a customer want it. Selling or leasing to a customer is advantageous to letting me drive it for 3 months.

I could drive a GS tomorrow. No thank you.

GMCadillia...the reason you don't see any RC or GS...is because where you live is mostly Pintos with 22" and old Cadis w/ 35" wheels, and lots trailers w/ people who love to wear wife beater fashion. But where I live in Denver, CO...i see lots of RC's and GS...more so then 5 series and 4 series...I see more IS than 3 series. I see old Caddy's w people like 50Cent behind the wheel...and never seen a ATS/CTS yet. I bet there are alot of ATS/CTS in KY eh?

Is it even legal in Kentucky for people to buy anything but confederate built cars?

BTW-Lexus is #1 in luxury sales again ....Caddi...i think they sold as many cars as Yugo last month. Really..who cares about Caddi...only low income uneducated ebonics and confedonics haters...

Oh good, you are from the state with tons of crimes.

I can see you are sick and tired of the U.S. now, you should consider moving to Fukushima, Japan, just to show the Japanese people that you are ashamed of being a white American in America. The Japanese people there might give you a job at McDonald's, if you tell them that you love Lexus a lot. Sounds pretty good, isn't it? I'm sure you will do just fine being a Wapanese in Japan, my friend.

@GM

We don't tolerate this. First and last warning.

00R, very interesting. You warn the person who RESPONDED to the insults? Not the one who started it?

Talk about "fairness". I hope you can be proud of yourself for being able to judge so "efficiently".

Not sure why but I really want to see Lexus succeed. But, they have yet to truly build any true segment leaders in their recent attempt to change their image. This car will not help that cause starting so much lower on power. Sure, it's lighter, but I'm just not confident it's enough to offset the power deficiency. What is kind of ironic here is that the RC-F is heavy and "overpowered" (except the C63/S) compared to its competition and this GS-F is the opposite, being light and "underpowered". It makes me wonder if Lexus really knows who it wants to be, or if its engineering savvy can pull it off consistently.

Anyway, I think this GS-F can have an impact if it costs about $20k less than its intended competition. It cannot be priced head to head with the M5/E63/RS7/CTSV. It needs to be closer to the 550i/S6/S7/CTS V-Sport.

CO one of the fastest hottest real estate markets in the country. Only crime in CO is the rent and cost of living is skyrocketing....they say you need to make at least $35/hr to live here. Don't be hating because your from Kentucky and there isn't anything going on there except people packing to move to Colorado.

Is that true, Jameswisrik? I'm not challenging you, but I am looking into relocating out West and CO caught our eye.
