Some people have other interest besides cars, now I realize this is a car website that makes fun of her, but I don't see what the big deal is.

That's not true! It's HYBRIDS that have internal combustion engines and can run with electrical assistance, and some can run in pure electric mode. They're still hybrids. Electric cars are... how do I say this... they're cars powered purely by electricity, which also means means not powered by gasoline in any way.

I speculate Chelsea believed that there are two classes of cars: those powered by gasoline alone (the traditional car), and hybrids, which she considered to be "electric."

The mainstream automakers have been pretty explicit today to differentiate b/t Hybrid & EV models. Tesla specifically makes EV's only. The comedian just really didn't know.
