Tesla Sending Letters To Owners Telling Them To Curb Use Of "Free" Supercharging Stations?

Tesla Sending Letters To Owners Telling Them To Curb Use Of
With difficult financial reports and questions regarding its treatment of employees, it seems Tesla now has a new problem on its hands: it really pissed off some of its customers with a letter to some Model S owners. Apparently, the company thinks that some of these drivers are overstaying their welcome, using the supercharging stations too often or for too long. According to a thread on Tesla Motors Club, an owners' forum, some customers have recently gotten a gently-worded request to reexamine their use of supercharging stations.

If the quote in the article is complete and 100% accurate, then it doesn't instruct users not to use the stations. I politely asks them to move out of the station once their car is fully charged. I speculate this might have arisen as a complaint from Tesla owners who want to use an occupied station but can't because the owner is nowhere to be found, possibly taking an extended lunch or doing some sightseeing on foot.

In plain English, Tesla's letter could be viewed as a polite request for owners to share the free resource rather than hogging it beyond their own actual need. Sort of like leaving your car at the gas pump and going for dinner while someone is waiting to get gas.

Much ado about nothing? And of course, someone somewhere will get pissed and take it as much the "wrong way" as possible, no matter what you say or how you say it.

Tesla owners blow $100,000 of their savings on this thing then are too cheap to charge it at home?

Yep, that sounds like the type of people who would buy this car.

I so agree. Every Tesla owner I've come across so far has been an entitled, snotty, douche bag.

Charge overnight or spend 20min charging it at the Tesla supercharger? Go grab a coffee, faster charge and its free. If Tesla or whoever is paying the hydro bill doesn't like it, tough.

If it's free, it's free. Only a Gestapo NAZI like Elon Musk would put parameters on free.

Preach it, brother! They are losing $4K per car and selling stock. If I know a company is losing $4K per car, I sure as hell would not buy stock. Oh wait, they are adding a second model. How much will they lose on that? Now they are giving away free electricity. How much are they losing on that.

Will this be another "John DeLorean" moment where it all comes crashing down because Elon Musk is doing drug trafficking to keep his car company afloat?

I thought it was $4k per vehicle too but apparently there's another $11k that I can't remember. If it were only $4k, I'd just tell them to raise the price but its more than that so they can't simply raise the price.

Elon can to F*ck himself. If I bought a car and there's free electricity a minute a way, I'll park it there all night if I want.
