If Ford Brings Back The Bronco Should It Be A Hardcore Wrangler Killer?

In addition to resurrecting the Ranger, Ford Motor Co.’s plans for the Michigan Assembly Plant may include bringing back a Bronco midsize sport utility vehicle, according to a report by Bloomberg News on Wednesday.

The Detroit News first reported late Tuesday that Ford plans to again sell the Ranger midsize pickup in the United States and build it at Michigan Assembly in Wayne. Ford discontinued the small truck in 2011, but newer versions are sold in 180 markets around the world. They currently are built in Argentina, South Africa, Thailand and Nigeria.

Needs to be a true Wrangler competitor or else it will cannobilise Edge and Escape sales.

It can be both. The Toyota FJ Cruiser wasn't necessarily a hit, but it sold. The Wrangler has a following that are likely to remain true. If the Bronco is just a me too, why not go for the original? The Bronco needs to be a better Wrangler and also MORE to appeal to new prospects.

This is so much better than Toyota Land Cruiser.

i'll find a use FJ! we Know GM and Ford can't make reliable anything. It will ride like a minivan suv. Like the minivan Colorado/Canyon truck. I think Ford Bronco will be introduced at a Walmart parking lot going over speed bumps. Like when they introduce the Colorado/Canyon at Big Lots!

I had two new Broncos during the 1980's.
The Bronco would push my Western snow plow but it rode like a bucking bronco. Also, it was as thirsty as a herd of broncos (10 to 12 mpg).

The major flaw of the Bronco was its too short body length. The rear cargo area was grossly inadequate. The short rear was the kiss of death for the Bronco which drove me away from the Bronco forever.

great...another minivan of trucks/su...like a honda ridgeline or gm colorado/canyon.

LazyBoy furniture should start making suv/truck. Sure GMCadilliac is on the waitlist.

Thank goodness there is a Tacoma!
