With A 0-60 in Only 2.7 Seconds Who Wouldn't Want Hellcat Cherokee?
The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) dealerships meeting in Las Vegas is proving to be a wealth of info on new cars. First it was the revived Barracuda and now we’re hearing about the Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Now we’ve known about this nutty SUV for some time, but apparently FCA actually brought it out for dealers to see. According to Motor Authority’s source, the response to the Trackhawk from the room was as follows: “That thing sounds insane!”

What makes the Trackhawk so nuts is that it has all-wheel drive. This is what will help it get from 0-60 mph in a blistering 2.7 seconds, at least according to FCA. That number is damn nuts and will likely go up once independently tested.

Multiple sources report the actual time will be closer to 3.5 seconds. Still insanely quick for an SUV. Can't wait for the drag race with the Model X.

A Jeep with that much power is simply a Drag Racer - it will never be a road racer - it simply will not be able to handle as well as a sedan.
Maybe I should be happy to the the 50's and 60's coming back - but back then we cooked the engines ourselves. However - Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ is the place to see these things work - and they don't belong on the street.

@TomM What it is is a profit maker and as such they need to get it to market and rake in the insane profits. That is the only reason it exists. When the engine starts grenading components, the rush to buy will be satiated and Sergio and laugh all the way to the bank.

I think a Hellcat Ghibli would be a great move. More on that to come...

Why even come up with an all new name like "Trailhawk" for the Hellcat version Jeep Grand Cherokee when you can just call it a HELLCAT? SMH!

The will call it "Trailhawk" to create a Jeep-branded super performance lineup. Hellcat is the Dodge version.

By the way, all this Dodge performance is a trickle-down from the Viper program. Not so many Viper's are sold anymore, but the 'halo-effect" has certainly spread to the rest of the company.

I can't wait for FCA to drop the "HellCat" engine into a Maserati Quattroporte or Ghibli - it would be an easy swap and people would snap them up. It would be the fastest sedan on the market probably - beating M's and AMG's.

@mre30 I am working on just such a swap on my father-in-law's Ghibli. He's a total gear head. Wrecked Hellcats command a surprising amount even when totaled. Because the Ghibli is pretty much a Charger with a different front suspension, the component sharing under the skin is massive.

Can't wait when they have 0-60 in .025 secs. When this Jeep hits an object, the POS and dumbass driver will evaporate forever.

I have a vehicle that does 0-60 in 30 secs..and I get there more relaxed, safe, and enjoying the scenery on the way. Love my bus pass and mountain bike.

This is nothing but a silly, convoluted marketing strategy, particularly when the upcoming Hellcat engined "Trailhawk" will be just one model & not actually a "lineup" of "super performance" Jeeps.
