DRIVEN + VIDEO: ANOTHER Review Of The Audi Q7 — Is It IMPRESSING You?

DRIVEN + VIDEO: ANOTHER Review Of The Audi Q7 — Is It IMPRESSING You?
Since the debut of the all-new Audi Q7 there's been a bit of a back and forth about the four rings' all-new product.

Is it dull or is it great looking? Is the tech really that interesting or is it just mildly updated from what we currently know? Will the weight savings make it a MASSIVELY better vehicle, overall?

To be crystal clear, I haven't been entirely swooned by the all-new Q7. It hasn't done much for me, however, I will note that after watching this particular automotive review it is now turning my head. To me, it looks like it's optioned in the right colors with the right wheel combination and to see the functionality first hand helps.

Personally, I can't wait to play with the vehicle's instrument panel and that massive screen.

While I don't expect it to drive like a performance vehicle, I will say the air suspension has me interested. That's because car companies either nail it or fail miserably.

Having said all this, scope out the video review below and let us know what you think in the comments. Is the Q7 starting to IMPRESS you or are you not even tuning in?

The Audi Q7 is all about comfort, practicality, effortless performance and a beautiful interior. At launch, two diesel engines are available providing a good balance of performance and economy (on paper, at least). There’s plenty of cutting-edge technology available and the interior is as luxurious as you’d expect from an SUV costing around £50,000. It lacks the look-at-me styling of the original, and a Land Rover Discovery will be better off-road, but there are few better ways for seven to travel in comfort.

Watching his review of the Q7 and his review of the XC90 back to back, it certainly brings up excellent comparisons between the two. I wish he had a better-equipped Volvo engine-wise to make a more accurate comparison. If i had to make a choice between the two, it would probably be the Volvo. The Q7 has a high quality interior that, in paradox, looks a bit sterile in its design, and I dislike the placement of the info screen. The XC90 isn't much better as it's probably a bit too minimalist, but the info screen is much better. And it appears as though the Volvo has much better packaging in terms of interior passenger and cargo space. The Q7's exterior is so non-descript, this may be called the Audi Ambien. The Volvo's exterior is nicely done, if not a tad conservative, but much better than the Audi.

Don't get me wrong, the new Q7 is a definitive step ahead from the outgoing model. But, specifically with weight and driveability, it's almost where it should have been from the beginning, where some of its closest rivals have been for many years.

I'm not impressed with either of them. The Audi looks dowdy. Yes it's better looking than the whale it replaced, but it's still not attractive. Volvo teased us with gorgeous concept car design language but what we got in the XC90 looks like a Geely counterfeit. I think Volvo went gorgeous and the Chinese got scared. The result is a dull addition to the sea of SUVs.

having sat in various SUV's including the new Q7 and the XC90 at this year's NY Auto Show, I came away with a slight edge of the Audi Q7 over anything else. The XC90 was nice, however the interior while nicely styled lacked the quality that oozes from the Audi's interior. Audi's materials and execution was simply better than anything else in its class. The styling of the new Q7 is a bit bland at first, but it does grow on you and you begin to notice the little angles and edges that won't seem so dated looking in 5 years. The XC90 is a bit cheaper though and if you a set on a typical SUV stance and look then it is a great choice. The Q7 does look more like a tall wagon but this will be better for everyday road driving. Q7 or XC90? I'm leaning Q7 but want to drive one first compared to an XC90.

Lots of International Auto shows and the prototype cars they present prove that automakers are capable (Especially Cadillac) of designing a car that would fly off the dealer lots - because they look that good.

How do we make the case for actually making these cars - instead of getting watered down ugly repeats over and over again? What is clear is that the Manufacturers and their dopey leaders (Like deNysschen) have NO CLUE - and even though Cadillac (lack of) buyers have - with their lack of buying - tried to get the message to the company - it has NOT sunk in that they simply do not make a car we want - and we are not going to buy the "stuff" they put out - at least not ethusiastically.

Dear Mary Bara: Over a hundred years of production has pretty much proven that Styling does sell cars - and lack of styling doesn't. The second MonteCarlo was a smash hit - not because it was a superior car - but because it looked good. The Ford Granada was NOT a lot like Mercedes - but it did look that way. And fine Corinthian Leather sold more Chryslers when they actually looked good too. While Cadillac and Buick have a host of other problems - the Cadillacs notably for a lack of overall interior and trunk space - the LOOK has outlived itself - but with the newer prototypes for Cadillac and Buick - you have cars that people out here LUST for. Why are you NOT producing them? - just because an idiot formerly from Infiniti and Audi feels he can force his beliefs on an OBVIOUSLY not cooperating public. WAKE UP!!!!

CAR magazine published a comparison of the Q7, LR4, and XC90 this month (not online yet). Q7 came in third, LR4 in second, and XC90 in first.

and yet according to this same Car Magazine, about the new 2016 Audi Q7 : "...The interior, though, seems absolutely faultless – a true work of art, crafted to Bentley standards and loaded with state-of-the-art assistance systems."

As I grow older I appreciate more and more the quality aspects of the interior. After all, it is where my own eyes are 99% of the time when I am with my car. If I have to look at a cheap plastic piece of crap in my line of sight when I know I could have bought an Audi with much better materials I would constantly by kicking myself. At the NY Auto Show, I saw for myself how much better the new Q7 interior was to anything else in its class. The XC90 interior had a nice minimalist style. However it just wasn't as nice use of materials as the Audi. This decision would be one to stick in my mind every time I crawl into the car and start looking at the dash and center console.

i wanted for the q7 to come out because i wanted to buy it. it was a waste of time and money because as soon as i saw its minivan proportions, i bought the X5 which to me in M Sport trim is the sportiest looking of the bunch. Sorry i am not considering the volvo. nothing about it is appealing starting with the 4cyl engine. i am sure its the perfect car for many but its again too mini-vanish for me. the GLE looks nice (esp the interior) but too chrome-y for for me. i would love the RR sport as well but alas they only sell the supercharged version here which costs almost 2x the x5 3.0 diesel price (almost same as an x5m).
