Tesla Model X Configuration Tool is Live for Pre-Order Customers - Screen Shots on Tesla Owner's Site

The day has come where we all can finally see the production Tesla Model X.

The Model X will be pricey (approx. low $130,000's before credits); it will have three rows (though the second row doesn't appear to fold down as per the preliminary screen shots on the Tesla user forum - though Elon Musk apparently drew some confusing pictures claiming that it does).

In other good news, it appears that the 'Falcon Doors' have some sort of sensor in them, so they either (a) don't get ripped off of your Tesla if you try to enter your low garage with them 'up' or (b) don't create a 'Falcon Door' sized hole in your house if you drive into your garage with the doors raised. Thank goodnes Elon Musk thought of that feature!

Feel free to "geek-out" and look at all the screen shots and draw your own conclusions!

that is definitely alot more expensive than I would have thought. I think it will be a harder sell due to the pricing. Also, interested to see how big it is inside as it doesnt look all that large for 3 rows

the Signature Model is always a lot more expensive.. Hopefully the base model when available is more towards $80k-$90k or I may have to bail out myself. The Signature price of $132-$142k puts it firmly into the camp of the base optioned Cayenne Turbo (Turbo S starts at an eye watering $157k btw). You get a third row which the Cayenne does not have however. It will be interesting to see if Tesla can sell the Signature Model at this price..a lot of people who put down deposits were likely hoping for a price structure similar to the $80k Model S.

Yes but for less money by about $35k to $40k you can have a Mercedes GL which actually seats 7. The Model X is not very large for passengers. Or a X5 M which is larger than the Cayenne, or X5 5.0, etc.

It looks like the Model X is starting at $110,000. Wholly crap that is alot of money for the vehicle.

sorry misread that. although Tesla is saying that the Base Model X will be a little more than the Model S. That is still going to push you over $100,000

Musk says that the Model X will be $5k more than the S, so it looks like a base X85D will be about $90k.. that's a lot better. I'm still in. I don't need the Insane or Ludicrous Mode for $110k.

X5 M is about $110k so right at the same as a potential X85D Performance.

The X5 M performance is around the upper 3's range. Yet big difference between the 2. Still not sure how efficient and much one is saving in comparison to the true luxury 3rdd row seat vehicles. Also, will be interesting to see how these work in garages and low ceiling

Prices are nuts, even with the performance. And its ugly too. Tesla needs to poach some good designers.

FYI, on the Tesla forums there are quite a few buyers on the waiting list relieved that the price isn't higher than it is. I think they were preparing for Cayenne Turbo S or Range Rover Supercharged Autobiography kind of money. And the Tesla is faster 0-60 than all of them. Way faster.

The tesla is not way faster with the standard version of the Model X. Also, it isnt faster than either the BMW X5 M or Cayenne Turbo S which are both sub 4 second trucks. Yet to get that performance for the Tesla you have to spend $143k for one and that is way too much. Would I spend $30k more and not get the X5 M or X5 5.0i, or Cayenne GTS or Range Rover Sport supercharged. not in this lifetime.

The Base Model X will end up being around $90k .

well, the fact is, a 7 passenger 3 row SUV that hits 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and quarter mile in well under 11.7 seconds .... 2 row 5 passenger Cayenne Turbo S and X5 M are not direct competitors anyway. ..They are simply 0-60 road kill.
