Nice Rendering of the 2008 Audi Q5

Nice Rendering of the 2008 Audi Q5
Audi is about to develop a new compact SUV to take its place below the Q7 in the company’s model line up. Dubbed Q5, the newcomer is going to be a direct competitor against the BMW X3. It is sitting on a platform and is using elements from the next A4 and A6. It will be bigger, measuring about 4.70m in overall length, than the BMW X3 and the upcoming Mercedes GLK.

Technically it is derived in components from the VW Touareg. Also, in order to be able to use the important V8 power plants which are essential for the US market, the engines will be mounted lengthwise, not transversely. The Q5 is also equipped with “quattro” all-wheel-drive.

The photos are showing a very recent advanced prototype of the new model. The added computer image is showing how the new Q5 could look like upon its release.

The Q5 is expected to debut at the beginning of 2008

Excellent photoshop, but the car isn't as nice as the Q7. Thankfully, we can expect the Q5 to look different than this artists impression.

the q7 is a much better looking car and also from the back it looks like an avant???-do audi call their estates/station wagons/touring cars avant??

And if it had a BMW badge, you'd be drooling.

I don't find this attractive at all, but rest assured it won't look like this at all either.

The mule actually looks really cool with the exaggerated wheel arcs. I doubth it will have any Touareg specific bits, if they are talking about the engines, they could have said Q7 engines as they are the same. It will be based on the new modular A4/A5/A6 platform.

If Audi wants to up the ante on the competition, they simply MUST use the 3.6 FSI VR6 in the new A4/updated A6! And they MUST tune it to at least 300hp! If the Q7 has it, why can't the others? It's a fabulous engine, and the Passat 3.6 is quicker than a 330i (as well as the Q7 3.6 being much quicker than the X5 3.0i).

Another interesting but necessary measure would be to employ the GTI 30th Anniversary's engine (2.0TFSI 230hp) across the Audi lineup. They should keep the 2.0T VWs in the lower 200s for space, but the Audis would do well with that engine. The 2.0TFSI is already a lot more fun than BMW's 325/328 engine, and adding more power would just make it better.
