CAR WARS! Decisions, Decisions — Do You Have Beauty OR Fun? S550 Coupe vs. S550 Cabriolet
All-new information surrounding Mercedes-Benz's latest product, the S-Class Cabriolet is breaking tonight. While the three-pointed star has happily teased us with a sketch and a vague image of its all-new, 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show-bound Cabriolet, it finally dropped the full banana on us.

While I'll be doing a separate story detailing the car and also providing you with more images, we decided first that a tough question has to be asked: WHICH of the S550s would you have? The S550 Coupe OR the S550 Convertible?

There's no question both vehicles are extremely capable and full of the latest and greatest technology, but I think this decision comes down to essentially a battle of beauty versus fun. The S550 Coupe has, arguably, one of the most elegant designs in this business. The S550 Cabriolet, on the other hand, is a convertible that has as bit of a choppier design — it's tough to make a soft top that isn't awkward — but the roof comes off so there's no doubt this thing will make a superb cruiser.

Having said that, WHICH would YOU be putting in YOUR garage?

Having seen the cabrio in full pictures, it's a bit disappointing, really. With the coupe, its super sleek roofline helps offset the bucktooth look of the grille. But with the cabrio, that grille stands out a bit too much and too ungracefully. Still better than the SL, but I'd take the coupe. And if I want a convertible, I just want a two-seater.

I will add that the rear three-quarter view of the cabrio with the top down looks stunning.

For that price, NEITHER. The styling does not appeal to me even remotely. These would be ideal for monied septuagenarians in a retirement village in Boca Raton who miss the days of Oldsmobile.

Of course you don't like it, its German. You always find a fault on them. But if its a "crappy" FORD or HYUNDAI, the ones you sell, then you would be saying that is the most beautiful thing that you have ever seen.

Are you on meds? I truly do not mean that out of disrespect at all. But you baffle me. In one post (with Mercedes' sales figures) you say "The Mercedes line is vibrant". Then you make the comment here? So confusing.

@cidflekken clue the F in. Just because the line is vibrant OVER ALL does not mean that EVER iteration is brilliant. Stop being combative because you think you can. You can't.

@USNA1999, at the moment I own managing interests in Ford, Kia, Hyundai, and Chevy/Cadillac in addition to the vintage internet sales arm. I have connections with other owners of dealers to know the pulse of the industry. I've been on many ride and drives. You can do all the snide comments you want, but you are flailing and attempting to bully. Just because YOU do not measure up to anything in this world, does not mean that I don't. The mere fact that you give me the time of day in your responses reveals you think you're lesser than psychologically. If you really were coming from a position of strength and thought your assessment of me was correct, you would dismiss me and not waste a moment making comment about me.

Because you do, you have conceded superiority to me.

Matt the Moron - - - Sorry, but you have lost all respect on this forum by demonstrating what an idiot you are over and over again. You bully everyone that does not agree with you or criticizes you in any way. Once you told us that you had an interest in Porsche, next you told us you only held stock in Porsche that you used your wife's money to purchase. You don't seem to own anything only "interests" which makes sense since you are too much of an idiot to manage anything on your own.

Darringer, I don't need to be "combative" with you to feel good about myself. You obviously feel differently about yourself, my friend, and that's okay. Keep being you, but understand that clearly that doesn't really resonate with many, or any, on this site.

I do miss my Oldsmobile 442, my Pontiac GTO and my Plymouth Road Runner so I'll take the Cabrio and my best girl to the nearest Fidelity office to check up on my portfolio...ta ta!

@USNA1999, be careful, he doesn't "sells" cars, he has "a stake" in those dealerships.
