STUD OR DUD? Will The 2016 F-Pace Become The Lion's Share Of Jaguar Sales?

Here is the first official naked picture of the 2016 Jaguar F-Pace. Could you possibly imagine a car more completely defined by What’s Hot Right Now?

Many of us look at a rakish British performance SUV and ask– “why?” After all, Jaguar props its entire brand on a sports car-vibe (even if their prevailing models are sedans) and on top of that the automaker’s blood brothers with one of the most recognized SUV labels on the planet! What the heck are they doing building a jacked-up station wagon of their own?

Well the answer’s pretty simple: Jaguar would like to sell some cars now, please.

STUD. Might be the best-looking SUV in a long time.

Aside from the front end that reminds me of a Volvo (just missing the diagonal sash), I say it's styled nicely. As for the other characteristics, like reliability, handling, interior styling, etc., we'll see.

I like it and I am sure that it will be the largest volume selling in Jag's line up because nobody seems to want sedans anymore....but why does the profile make me think if Infiniti? Better looking for sure...but Infiniti popped into my mind.

Correction: NO ONE wants JAGUAR sedans. Sales of BMW and Mercedes sedans are quite healthy.

The F Pace could easily double or triple sales given that Jaguar sales are on track to be BELOW 17K units for MY 2015. If this can't sell 35K units it will be because it is stupidly priced like every other Jaguar. Mercedes has about 20 times the volume of Jaguar.

Yes - the SUV is the new Full Size Car in the US Market - people buy them for the space they cannot get in cars today. They certainly do not care about off road capabilities - they almost never use them - but the MEDIA people do - so they have to have at least some useful off road features. The JAG will outsell all other Jag sedans.

To MDarringer - with a few exceptions - no one wants sedans at all.The sedans they make are largely just stretched smaller cars - with compromised sightlines and interior space - no trunks - and NO SPARE TIRE. Small sports sedans may as well not have the back seat - after I Put the front seat back for me - only legless people can sit behind me. And if you want to put a spare tire in the trunk - it may not fit there as well. People who buy these smaller - lower priced premium cars - are largely buying a two seater with a rear package shelf for pets and purchases.

jaguar needs to lower their pricing, be more in line with Lexus even though theres more prestige with the brand to away bmw, benz, audi buyers.
