BREAKING! Multiple Fatalities And Injuries At Spanish-Held Rally Race
This is not the sort of thing you want to hear on a long weekend, but, unfortunately, this is the latest.

According to reports streaming to us from abroad, a Spanish rally event has turned quite dismal after one of the rally cars went off course and crashed. Unfortunately, there's been confirmed reports from the Spanish police of multiple fatalities and injuries at the scene.

As of the time of this writing, six are confirmed dead and up to 10 individuals have been injured. The participants in the rally car are not reported among the fatalities. This is a fluid event and updates will continue to pour in.

As I am not a follower of the rally world, I am not well informed on the significance of this particular race. I am reading that over 100 cars were entered into the race, which marks the 20th A Coruna Rally.

We offer our sincerest condolences to the families and friends who were lost and we hope those injured make a speedy recovery.

How many times have we seen idiots at rallying venues lining the path the car will take? If spectators died because they were stupid enough to line the path of the speeding car, then I have a hard time seeing the tragedy.

While your response is a common sense one, I must say you should be a bit compassionate. A pregnant woman and child were said to be among the victims who perished.

@Agent00R compassion is not devoid of reason. If you want to be an apologist, fine, but do not bully those rooted in reality.

MDarriner, if compassion is not devoid of reason, then may I suggest the tacit response du jour: my heart goes out to all of those involved in this tragedy, especially those who thought it prudent to place themselves so close to the driving path of a race car, in a desperate show of exuberance.
