First Look At The Cadillac XT5 And A World Exclusive Rumor As A Bonus!

First Look At The Cadillac XT5 And A World Exclusive Rumor As A Bonus!

Our friends over at Cadillac confirmed today that the long awaited XT5 crossover will make its official debut at the Dubai Motor Show, followed shortly thereafter after with a North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.  This long awaited SRX replacement is pivotal if Cadillac it going to finally make it as a global luxury player.

While this is great news, the bigger story might be the grumblings deep in the dark web.  It seems that the XT5 is just a stepping stone for the American automaker with the real deal being a XT7 3 row crossover.  Maybe the naming nomenclature is a hint to bigger and better things to come? While it is too early to tell when we will see a RX killer in the flesh, it would serve Cadillac well to start chipping away at the increasing odd looking crossovers from Lexus.  The time has never been riper as Japanese brand has been getting a bit lazy in cutting edge design over the last few years and a new fresher design just might steal away more than  a few buyers from the Japanese luxury brand.

So now it is time to ask the experts, is the time right for a three row version of the XT5 and who should it target?

I disagree with the Japanese styling comment. The NX looks amazing on the streets and I'm sure the RX will do the same. These Cadillacs, with those weird Van Buren Chops that even Renault seems to be copying in its new Laguna, could just appeal to people over 50. I don't feel they will be able to impact Lexus as much as stated.

While I agree that they might not impact Lexus too greatly - what they will Impact is Cadillac Sedans - reducing their sales even more. I would especially like to see how a XT7 and the CT6 would compete in the marketplace - I am sure the SUV would be the sales leader

NX looks very nice, and from official press release of new RX, it too looks nice. as for this Cadillac, the RX has absolutely nothing to worry about

Not very flattering even if Cadillac thinks that the SOHO background helps

This will fly off the lots. It's sexy like a Hugo Boss suit. Bring on the XT7 ASAP.

These are the only pics I've seen of this car... I hope its better in reality than these pics, I think it has a freaky look, sort of like the Lexus's. My biggest question is if you're going to design a new car, why not make it gorgeous? I agree with Matt, this will sell, but they need the XT7 to follow it up very quickly...

The SRX and RX have been MAJOR product movers in this 2-row entry-level luxury segment. Both had base prices similar to each other until the NX took the entry-level spot and now the RX's base is above $40k. If Caddie can keep the base of the new XT5 below $40k then i can see it stealing sales from the Lexus.

I'm in the demographic for this product and I love it. I'd buy if I didn't have so many kids. My brother and his husband want one for their emerging family. This is going to be a good product.

Its a nice product - the target market is going to love it. I recall that the SRX is Cadillac's biggest selling model line - this should do well. The 7-passenger should do even better - though it will definitely cannibalize the Escalade (which admitted doesn't sell as well as it used to) - perhaps it will really cannibalize the tired GMC Denali. Wonder if they will put the Corvette engine in it and make a CT5 model V version? Rap stars would love it.

Looks so much better than the current gen model. The current gen model looks funny and stupid.

i was really looking forward to the SRX update and wanted to like it, but im sorry this design isnt very appealing to me at all. doesnt come close to making me think about taking this over an rx350/ nx200

I am honestly floored at the comments on this site...the NX looks "nice." Are you people on crack?? The new Lexus RX is even more ugly. I'm sorry. Say what you will, but Lexus is far too confident in their approach to their new crossover/sedan design. The XT5 will slay in person. Mark my words. It will make the NX/RX look comical, as it will look more expensive, upscale and refined.

Put down the crack pipe brown, this product can't and won't hold a candle to the Lexus SUV's......
