Which Two Year Old ELECTRIC Car Can You Buy USED For LESS Than A NEW Golfcart?

Which Two Year Old ELECTRIC Car Can You Buy USED For LESS Than A NEW Golfcart?

There steals and deals, and some things you just walk away from.  When shopping for a gently pre-owned golf cart to cruise around the sub-division we were a bit taken back at how well these modes of transportation hold their value.

We found a gas powered 2013 Yamaha golf cart over at our good friends at  GolfCartGuide.com with only 38 hrs on the ticker retails for around $9500.

Not bad for tooling around the hood, but can we do better?  The discussion quickly turned being a bit greener and what was out there for the same price and the same age but electric.

It didn’t take too long to ditch that option with an electric golf cart, but then we remembered a recent post about the state of the EV resale market and we began digging deeper.

How about a 2013 Nissan Leaf S with a full factory warranty with and only 14,800 miles for only $10,300?  It wouldn’t take much to talk this guy down to less than the golf cart and we pick up four doors, AC, HID lighting, heated steering wheel, and bit more safety.  Not a bad boulevard cruiser for the money.

But which is the better subdivision cruiser to pick up the kids at school and make a quick run across the hood?

I would suspect that once the resale prices of Tesla's normalize (i.e they are no longer "propped-up" by Tesla's various trade-in, pre-owned, buy-back programs), that they will be in this range too. If you want a Tesla, lease it!

My advice with any EV (certainly) or hybrid (probably) is to lease it. EV technology will continue to leap frog so buying outdated technology makes no sense. Hybrids are at a pretty good state of "perfection" but I still would not want the battery issue 10 years hence.
