#IAA: Please Tell Us THIS Isn't The New 370Z - Nissan Previews Gripz Concept

Ready for some shadowy teaser images of a concept car? Then Nissan has a treat for you.

This is the first look – or squint – at the Nissan Gripz concept car headed for the 2015 Frankfurt motor show next week. It’s described as a crossover – but a one quite apart from the mainstream Juke and Qashqai stable.

Rather than a jacked-up hatchback or dropped-down off-roader, the Gripz is an altogether sportier kettle of fish, albeit still one with an all-terrain bent. What’s more, it could herald a new SUV-styled direction for the firm’s Z sports car model line. Cue bouts of depression for traditional sports car fans worldwide.

Based on the front view - this looks more like a 4x4 concept than a Z sports car. NOW I am aware that it has been reported that the next z car might be a 4x4 - but I am not taking that report seriously

The 370Z was a dud because it targeted the Cayman/Boxster rather than the Mustang GT/Camaro SS segment.

If Hyundai and Nissan aimed the Genesis Coupe and Z car at the Mustang GT/Camaro SS segment, they would have MUCH more success

The 350/370Z never lived up to its promises. For the price it was shockingly fragile with brake issues and grenaded transmissions.

A 240Z was a delight of excellence at a very attainable price. The 350/370Z was a clusterfluck of mediocrity at a shockingly high price.

Making "Z" a brand sold at Infiniti dealers and doing a 240Z (Toyoburu), 370Z (GT/SS), 450Z (V8 Cayman competitor), 240ZR (CUV), 370ZR (V6 CUV), and a GTR would be a great strategy.

Selling a Nissan (bargain basement name) at a Porsche price--without the quality to back it up--is how the French would do it.

Uh oh!

Is this Nissan's idea of reviving the TuTone car?
