NEW: Jaguar S-type

"The latest issue of Autoweek has a cover story on the 2008 Jaguar S-Type, but it's hard to tell if there's anything to get excited about. The computer generated images used for the story aren't particularly promising as they make the new Jag look like a cross between an Audi and a Lexus. Then there's the big grille on the front that looks like a drainage grate and an odd looking rear end with ultra slim taillights. The pics are nearly as good looking as the R-D6 concept pictured right. I've got a feeling the sketches don't do the S-Type justice as I've talked to people at Jaguar who said this car looks so good it was approved the minute top execs laid eyes on it. Autoweek also predicts a 350hp 5.0-liter V8 as the standard V8 engine with a supercharged 460hp version slated for the "R" model. A turbocharged 3.2-liter inline six is also being considered as an alternative for improved mileage. Look for the debut of the 2008 Jaguar S-Type sometime next year with sales beginning in early 2008."

If it's an XK sedan, then it has a lot going for it. But I predict that Jaguar will leave the XK style for the next-gen XJ, in a radical turn for the prestigious sedan. But I love the current XJ's traditional yet modern design, inside and out. It has chrome and mesh grilles, but it's very tasteful, and has perfect-sized exhausts and great standard wheels.

On the other thread that claim it was the XJ I thought the photo was ugly. this photo looks better so I am liking it more. But have to see it in person.. at least it don't look like the Jags of the last 20 yrs.
