#IAA: Did Jaguar Make A MISTAKE By Choosing NOT To Build The CX75 Or Was It The SMARTEST Decision In Recent Memory?
I remember seeing the Jaguar CX75 for the first time. It looked like it was an XJ220 that was modernized and, essentially, from another planet. While the F-Type is cool in its own way, the CX75 was really on another level.

We're talking the Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari level here.

Unfortunately, Jaguar Land Rover decided to forgo production. Was this a MISTAKE or one of the BEST decisions the British manufacturer has made in recent memory?

There's no question a supercar would give the company much-needed attention, but when you consider how many resources would have to be invested or put into the project, perhaps it was actually a smart idea. What say you, Spies?

The closest to the road the off-the-wall Jag will get is a starring role in the latest James Bond flick, Spectre. We're assuming this will be a baddies' car.

SMART move. They don't need vapor cars. They need mainstream vehicles to gain market share. A rear-wheel-drive coupe well equipped for $40K would make a lot of sense as well as a roadster version. They also need to think Bertone B99 for the ugly XJ's replacement.

Halo cars are what struggling brands do when they are in deep caca: Acura.

You are actually comparing Jaguar to an Acura. DUMB move.

@GMCadillac (formerly JDMUSMuscle) logic clearly eludes you. Both brands are struggling DESPERATELY to get traction in the premium market Acura spat out the NSX. At least someone in Jaguar is smart enough to realize that a halo car only has an effect when the whole line is vibrant...and the Jaguar line is largely dull and ignored.

The difference is - ACURA is part of the very large and profitable Honda empire - while Jaguar's TATA motors connection provides no such support. While TATA is profitable - the major profit center is JLR - and sales in India of their small cars have been down for at least a couple of years.

While Jaguars' line is not as bad as you say - the question of allocation of resources rears it ugly head. In order to compete - they need technology upgrades at least - and spending money on a low-selling HALO model is simply not efficient use of the money

Of course - expect sales of VW and AUDI to take a BIG HIT - because of the Diesel software issue. This may help Jag more than anything else - especially in Europe.

Huge mistake. It's a beautiful car and they would have easily sold every single one.
