Audi Q6 e-tron quattro near-production rendering

Audi Q6 e-tron quattro near-production rendering
At the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) last week, Audi took the wraps off the e-tron quattro concept which is powered by three electric motors, and has a maximum range of over 500 km. The concept is confirmed to evolve into a production model in early 2018 and a rendering from automotive illustrator Shoeb Kalania previews how the production version will possibly look like.

Save for some dramatic styling elements, the e-tron quattro concept appears to be near-production structurally. The exterior design is expected to borrow cues from the Audi Q7, as depicted in the rendering. Sitting on the second generation modular longitudinal platform (MLB-Evo), the production version will be positioned between the Audi Q5 and Q7 and going with the brand's nomenclature system for its crossovers and electrified models, it is likely to bear the 'Audi Q6 e-tron quattro' nameplate.

That's probably a pretty close rendering, minus the RS7 wheels. I think it will have a more coupe-ish look than that though.

Looks heavy, and counter-intuitive to what an EV SUV should be. Don't forget that you'll need a 2-3 thousand pounds worth of batteries to run this hefty thing as well.

On the "Boring/Ugly" scale, it fares pretty well (by scoring low in those dimensions). It looks a little to stationwagon-ish for my tastes. I'm still not into those trapezoids, sharp creases, and "mean face" front end.

All that aside, I think VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) has their work cut out for them as they try to regain consumer trust and credibility in light of their recent Dieselgate fiasco. Their stock as just experienced 2 consecutive ~19% daily price drops, being off ~38% from just a few days ago, all due to this very serious, very ugly matter.

I think most folks won't blame Audi for the VW fiasco. That said, this is one good looking SUV.

I wish VAG is traded here in the US. I'll buy their stocks at the 38% discount in a split second.
