Are You On The List? Alfa Romeo's 500Hp M3 Killer To Start Shipping Next September

The crucial new Alfa Romeo Giulia will reach the UK in September of next year, it has been confirmed. The car will spearhead Alfa's rebirth as a maker of lightweight, high-tech and sporty rear-wheel drive driver’s cars, and recently made its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show.

A rival to the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class, the Giulia is the first of eight new Alfas planned to launch over the next three years as part of a €5 billion investment in the 105-year-old Alfa brand.

By the end of 2018, Alfa wants to be selling 400,000 cars a year, a six-fold increase on last year’s levels. A full relaunch in North America is part of this Alfa reboot, which Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) boss Sergio Marchionne said was only now possible due to FCA’s investment potential and global distribution network. Such a dramatic reboot, added Marchionne, was: “the only opportunity” for Alfa to prosper.

Awful car. And coming to market so late...do they really expect this to turn into a success story?

I think this car looks awesome, but being from America I don't know enough and haven't research Alfa Romeo. How is their quality, reliability and performance of other models? I like the look and a different option from the great M3/M4. I can't wait until this car gets to our shores. The interior quality looks good but not great. The performance looks fantastic.
I will be looking for a sport sedan in the future and think I'm going to hold on this arriving.

I agree - the price IS the Object. FCA does not have a good reputation for producing reliable cars. AND Alfa has no real reputation left in the USA to work with. So - in order to be a choice - the cars will likely have to be priced below the competition. FCA has already indicated that they expect Alfa and Masserati to be the major Profit Centers of the company - cars that can maintain high margins. But that will not happen if they overprice the cars to begin with. Maybe in another generation they might be able to come closer to BMW - (Audi is sunk europe right now) but it depends on their ability to compete well the first time around - and they have to hit all the targets to get there.

Of course, we have NO idea of the Driving Dynamics of the car - and in Europe the Diesel engines will be more important. How the Highest end car sells is not of consequence if they cannot hit the mass market target first.

It should be just as reliable as any BMW, Audi etc. The interior does not have their quality but then it is a true sports sedan. For the performance it should be worth the money they will charge for it. More important will be the lessor performance oriented models. Style wise it is not a knockout. But it's aggressive and Italian and it has a generic shape that should appeal to the volume buyers. Frankly that's what Alfa needs at this point Volume and lots of it.
