500 hp in a new performance car for under $43,000? -- Ford's Shelby GT500 delivers

Two hot new Mustang's are making the rounds. One is the 2007 Ford Shelby GT. This is the consumer version of the 325 hp GT-H Hertz rent-a-Shelby announced at this year's New York Auto Show. It is due out in January.
The 500 hp Shelby GT500 is on sale now. With an MSRP of under $43,000, according to Ford's Web site, it includes a stout Tremec 6-speed manual and lots more go-fast goodies.

No it doesn't, the regular Corvette with 100 hp is quicker. Also, suckers have been buying them for over MSRP.

There is a reason very fast vehicles cost a lot of money, its called R&D, its very expensive and the parts needed to make these vehicles safe to drive and stop from those speeds are also more expensive than normal car parts.

Now for Ford to be able to make a vehicle with already Dubious handling go very fast and sell it cheap it must have cut A LOT of corners to save money and i for one believe tht you get what you pay for so i would not even be a passenger in one of these cars

Did you guys see the new commercials. Here is how it goes.

An American guy gets a car delivered in Germany and in the shipping yards, the box opens and the Shelby GT 500 shows up.

The German guy who works at the shipping yard asks "You didn't find a car you liked in Germany?"
(Then the car shows going really fast on the Autobahn - with the engine revving, etc.)

The American guy responds by saying "I couldn't find a speed limit I liked in America."

I have seen, not bad, but making it pass the Porsche CGT took away the authenticity, as the Shelby would have been pinned @ 155. Unless the guy removed the speed limiter, but they can't put that into a commercial, can they?

this car is missing yaw steering control. its a lightish rwd car. those 500hp will do alot of good fishtailing all over the place through corners. traction control and abs is not enough, im not gonna dog on it like i95speed but common its a freaken $45k 2007 "super"car. it should at least be an option.
