California Prepares Legal Assault Against Volkswagen For Cheating
California is preparing a major enforcement action against Volkswagen AG over its admitted cheating on tailpipe emissions tests, the state's top air official said on Thursday.

Mary Nichols, chair of the California Air Resources Board, said it was too soon to say what penalties would be levied against the company, which admitted duping the tests earlier this month.

The state is also preparing to oversee a recall of vehicles in California equipped with the device that allowed it to pass laboratory tests measuring their output of the air pollutant NOx, which contributes to smog, Nichols said.

This just in, lawyers frothing at the mouth, tripping over each other to put together class action lawsuits against VW and anyone else caught in this debacle. Hands up if you're surprised... anybody? anybody?

I didn't actually read the article until now.. this one isn't about lawyers it's about Cali's environmental laws being enforced via penalties. In any case VW gets no sympathy from me.. but before all is said and done I wonder how many politicians will posture over this and how many law firms add millions to their coffers.
