RECALL ALERT: You Will Want To Call Your Local Cadillac Dealer IF You Own An ATS...
The Cadillac ATS burst onto the scene with much fan fare, but like just about every single automobile produced these days, a recall has happened. This is to be expected with so many components in autos these days.

This one is a bit of a Duesey though.

According to General Motors (GM) as well as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 2013-2016 model year ATS sedans may be at risk due to fire. This is due to a defect in a component related to the rear window defogger. As it may overheat, it can develop into a fire should the conditions be right.

Nearly 120,000 units have been recalled so if you're an owner, please do yourself a favor, read the details below and get on the line with your local Cadillac dealer to schedule a repair as soon as possible.

Be safe out there, Spies!

General Motors' statement:

General Motors is recalling approximately 96,145 2013-16 model year ATS sedans in the U.S. Some of these vehicles may have been manufactured with critically weak terminal connectivity in the coil antenna module, which powers the rear defogger system. If the module has the condition and is subjected to excessive cycling or continuous operation, it may overheat and a fire may develop inside the rear pillar on the driver's side of the vehicle. Less than 1 percent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the condition. GM is aware of four fires but no injuries, fatalities or crashes. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is approximately 119,339.

My mom bought at ATS. It has proven to be a problem plagued car. The GM "mechanics" are clueless.

I hate to, but I agree. I leased a 2013 ATS 3.6 and its really a terrific car. However I've never had a car that was recalled before and this one, quite frankly, I've lost count. I am SO glad I did not purchase the car as the sticker was about $48K. Also after having Mercedes for years, and my wife BMW's, the dealership experience is simply sub par. I would imagine there is no difference dealing with anyother OEM dealer and a Cadillac dealer. Mercedes dealers are simply better and the customer experience is simply in another league. What Cadillac needs to do is FIX everything and do it now. This "slowly improving" is like a drip drip drip whereas MB just continues to do pretty much everything well. I'm disappointed in this car though it has great style, the bhp is so fun and I'm a fan of CUE. I've used it everyday for nearly 3 years and folks that complain about it simply don't use it every day. The 3.6 has 321bhp and the car is a blast to drive, and where i live you don't see them as much as 3 Series or C Class which are simply everywhere. I am hoping the new XT5 and CT6 will be true game changers and though I've thought about the CTS-V when this lease is up in Feb, I cannot stand the dealers in my town, they're just not the same caliber. For all the crap Johan de Nysschen takes, especially from Matt-D,(who I agree with about 99% of the time) I do admire him for what he's trying to do. Its a huge challenge one I'm not sure GM fully understood. They need a hit so badly... I say build the Ciel & El Miraj as CTS replacements. Build them mid-sized and price them right. WOW customers with the new engine line up and insane styling that folks have got to have... Something seriously bold and gorgeous, but a serious value. Otherwise, I've gotten to the point where I'm not sure they can do what they are seeking to accomplish.
