SPIED: BEST Look Yet At The All-New Mercedes-Benz E-Class — Get A Peek At Its All-New Mug
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class, since the mid 1990s, had always been a unique-looking three-pointed star. Equipped with quad headlights and a differentiated design, it was a cool Benz.

Now though it seems that the German marque has decided to take a more streamlined direction. That was first seen with the current-gen E's redesign and now with the all-new model it's going in an entirely new direction.

Fitting in between the company's other two core models — the S-Class and the C-Class — it looks like Mercedes is going to deploy the same sausage, different length philosophy.

The facade appears heavily inspired by the C-Class and it has nice sweeping lines along its side profile a la the S.

As of now we have yet to see the E's upcoming interior, so you'll have to hang tight there.

This is a great effort. Now if Mercedes would publicly state that its diesels have no cheating technology on them, they could claim sales from potential TDI buyers. These days, it's really great to be Mercedes.

MB did state that they "categorically" did not cheat.

Then @Socalcarnut they need to go on the offensive.

Publicly stating that they did not cheat will not resolve the problem - they need to get their cars INDEPENDENTLY Certified - at least the diesel ones - but at least a sample of each engine would be even better. However - this is a case where Mercedes did its homework - found out through market research that the people who buy their cars wanted more luxury - so they split the regular cars out - and made them MORE luxurious - while the left the "sport" to AMG - because according to magazines - only the numbers count most of the time.

This has resulted in record sales - and more important - record profit margins.

No the worst thing that any car company could do now is adopt a holier than thou attitude because they all have skeletons in the closet..maybe not Diesel...but something...and I predict that the auto industry is about to turn into a circular firing squad.

Folks, I hate to be a mud-slinging party-pooper, but the REAL issue isn't just "do you you defeat technology to pass emissions tests?" It's bigger than that. How about: If you pass emissions tests, regardless of how you do it, and then in real-world use your vehicle emits 22x legal levels of pollutants, how do you reconcile that?

This at least shows us that the emissions tests are woefully inadequate in obtaining the desired results, or even determining if a candidate comes close.

FWIW, I read an article that alleges an Audi A6 with V6 3.0 liter diesel, which does not use defeat technology, and which passed emissions tests, actually emits over 22x legal levels of NOx. If that's true, then is it JUST VAG that's a bad guy, or are there others? Or do real-world numbers not matter, so long as you pass the test?

This E might be a bit on the conservative side on the exterior. I hope it's not. It's definitely better proportioned than the C-Class sedan and that exterior is a perfect blend of the C and S interiors. The matte finish on the dashboard looks great. Can't wait to see the production car.

Oops, I meant "that INTERIOR is a perfect blend of the C and S interiors"
