Red Bull Racing No Longer Holding Out For Volkswagen Takeover Of F1 Team

Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has admitted that his team's hopes of luring VW/Audi in to Formula 1 appear to have evaporated, in the wake of the emissions controversy surrounding the German car manufacturer.

Horner had hoped his team would be able to convince VW's bosses about giving the green light to an F1 programme – potentially as early as 2018.

But after the company was engulfed in the scandal surrounding emissions in the United States, Horner has suggested that his team is no longer relying on the move happening.

Oh I'm so sorry! These poor multimillionaires won't be able to waste time driving pointless $3,000,000 cars around racetracks for their own entertainment. How horrible.

Everyone in competitive racing wants to win, but you can not trash talk your engine supplier, and major sponsor, unless you have another supplier already locked into a contract.

VW may still supply them with an engine, but Ferrari is going to make them pay heavily for an engine deal next year.
