Transportation Department Is Fed Up And Summons Automakers To The Whipping Shed
The U.S. Transportation Secretary says he is going to summon the major automakers to Washington to discuss the need for accurate reporting of safety defects, an action that comes amid a series of high-profile lapses and scandals involving the industry.

“We have millions of people who rely on them every day,’’ Anthony Foxx said of the automakers in a meeting Tuesday with reporters. “We need to have confidence information we get is real and accurate.”

The Transportation Department has been investigating Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV for waiting too long to fix safety defects, a probe that led to a record $105 million in civil penalties. Foxx’s department is also investigating airbags supplied by Takata Corp. that have been linked to at least eight fatalities. Last year, it fined General Motors for being tardy in reporting fatal defects.

Next thing that I suggest to check is the Fuel Economy of each car, specially the Europeans, and the reason is because an example, MB, BMW and Audi looks nice on paper but you can not compare the German streets and autobahns with the America's roads full of up and downs hills and winding routes. Economy numbers in Germany will be a lot better by far, so If want to sell my cars in US I will use the numbers in Germany...

Considering that the Republicans want to get rid of both Government regulation and the EPA - at least the Democrats do not want manufacturers to get away with anything they want to. But - it is at the end of Obama's presidency - and you should be talking about Donald Trump - and the other rag tag fleet of republican wannabees. They will say almost anything to get media coverage.

The next thing we will hear from Republican religious zealots is that the Bible says that they should STONE TO DEATH people who do not obey a Judges order - so instead of incarceration - since "gods" law takes precedence - we should all keep a good supply of bricks!

NHTSA / Barrack Mohammed Hussein Obama only penalize foreign automakers and FORD w/ big fines....but FOR GM - pay small fines and GM execs (murders) get away free. GM gets a nice bailout check.

Even Hitler paid w/ his life!!

GM execs know they can do anything w/o any punishment...they are above the law. Be very SCARED! when driving or next to a GM pos.
