Volkswagen Sales Flatline Ahead Of The Abyss - Up 0.56% For Month
Volkswagen of America, Inc. today reported sales of 26,141 units delivered in September 2015, a .56 percent increase over September 2014.

The sales results reflect a mid-month stop-sale for all 2.0L 4-cylinder TDI vehicles due to an investigation by EPA and CARB into emissions compliance.

“We would like to thank dealers and customers for the support of the Volkswagen brand,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America.  “Volkswagen will continue to work diligently to regain trust and confidence in our brand.”

Volkswagen revealed the newly redesigned 2016 Passat earlier in the month; the vehicle will hit showrooms by the end of the year. In September, the Chattanooga-built Passat delivered 7,228 units.

Next month will be telling.

I'm of two minds with respect to Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG). On one hand, I feel they deserve what's coming to them, through consumer scorn, legal action (for breaking environmental laws), and possible government action and sanctions. I also truly and deeply hope that VAG can clean up their act, and become much less of an arrogant company, and much more customer focused. Yeah, I know... that's a tall order, and might even be viewed by some as wishful thinking.

We love our Touareg but I totally agree with you. This is what happens when this companies get too big. I guess if you are not cheating you are not trying;)

I predict that if things get hairy, they will shutter Chattanooga because German jobs will always come first. I also think the blood sucking UAW will try to use this.

VW needs to clean up its act literally and figuratively, but they also desperately need to pay more attention to reliability and service cost. Parts for VWs are outrageous.

I'd go with clean-sheet models, with break-free styling, real hybrids, deemphasize TDI, "Hyundai" warranty...

Nice thoughts Steve. Unfortunately one gets the sense from their statements about quick recalls to fix the cars that they are headed toward turning off the software in the cars and calling it a day. That would would signal arrogance toward the customer is still there.

Vette71: I agree with you :-( I believe things will have to get *REALLY* bad for VW for them to truly change their corporate culture and become a customer-focused enterprise. They're not bad enough for VW yet.
