2018 Baby NSX Already Falling Short Of Mark - Loses 50HP And Manual Transmission
Recently, it seems as if Honda has matured to become a car company for the overly mature. Jeremy Clarkson himself said, “The average Honda driver is a symphony of arthritis and beige. His other car was a mobility scooter.” It appears as if Jezza’s proclamation got to the Japanese automaker. It now seems to be attempting to make Clarkson eat his words. To do this, Honda is pushing the Acura NSX and making a “baby NSX,” a car that has been confirmed for release in 2018.

It's hard to get excited about the all-new "baby NSX" when Acura has taken almost a decade of on-going hyping about the NSX II, and we're still waiting for it to show up in showrooms.

This baby NSX will end up being either stillborn or be pushing 3000lb (remember this is a hybrid) and 220HP with the performance of a Scion FR-S.

FR-S 2700lbs, 200hp, and a 15.4 quarter mile.

If they want to really compete look no further than the Alfa 4C.

2500lbs, 240hp and a 12.9 quarter mile.

Weight and HP make a huge difference in this class.

I agree. I bet this baby NSX will be mostly sold to the boy racers and eventually become forgotten.

I mean, was there a "single" successful Japanese sports car/supercar? None, (Even the GT-R, as the R35 GT-R was a total sales failure), because the Japanese sports cars simply lack the sex appeal that the European and the American brands possess.

Which is why GT-R was discontinued once so was NSX, and Supra, and the list goes on and on. Japan symbolizes failure, and is the embodiment of boringness, so I am not surprised at all.

I don't believe that the article is read to show that the Car lost 50HP- what it did say is that the car would now be a Hybrid -with a smaller gas engine (2.0 vs 1.5)BUT with an electric motor added to reach 300HP. (The 2.0 in the Civic type R is rated for 306HP) AND the article says it MAY be the end of a manual - but it does not say that for sure.

We don't need a Honda Fiero.

Japan is the country that symbolizes failure. Just like how Sony and other electronic companies of Japan all have failed and surrendered to the Korean giants, now the Japanese engineering is also dead as the Japanese can no longer even build a frigging Civic without the help of the Americans and the Europeans.

Not to mention their flagship models like GT-R and NSX are also built by the Americans and the Europeans.

Also, Japan is suffering from radiation, so well,

I'm really worried about the future of Japan. I mean, 2018? Who the hell is even going to wait for this junk to come out anyway?

My brother James, why are you mad at me? Do you still not know the fact that we are friends?

Enough Acura...love the current TLX and MDX. Build the damn thing.

When you buy a foreign nameplate that is built in the USA/Mexico/Canada/China or other countries...does the brand feel less special? e.g Benz / Lexus vehicles built in USA.

I prefer to buy a Benz made in Germany ...when its built in USA...I tend to avoid those models. Same w/ Lexus. Rather buy a Lexus built in Japan...then anywhere else...

They are turning this 'baby' NSX into a Acura Civic.
