Wards Disqualifies ALL Volkswagen Audi Engines From Consideration In 10 Best Engines Competition

We take our selection each fall of the Ward’s 10 Best Engines very seriously, because automakers and suppliers use these trophies to inspire teams of engineers to strive for more torque and horsepower and hone technologies that reduce friction, eliminate weight, improve combustion and mitigate pollution.

Likewise, consumers increasingly use our list when shopping for new vehicles. We have heard firsthand from people who, when deciding between one car or another, end up with a powertrain we recommended.

I believe it would be better if they disqualified only the offending "Dieselgate" engines, but I can understand why many people are painting all of VW and Audi as untrustworthy, or in the very least, under suspicion.

BTW, I was at my local Audi dealer who sells a lot of diesels -- the 3.0 liter variant that hasn't been implicated in Dieselgate so far -- and he says sales are unaffected and are still strong.

This is very interesting since in the last story posted about this they said the other German company's diesel engines actually had MORE pollution based on the studies conducted. So will they be disqualifying those engines now that the European government stated they will now conducted their own investigation??
