RUMOR: The All-New Lincoln Continental Is Expected To Debut In PRODUCTION Form At...
Although 2015 is far from over, I think Agent 001 and I would probably agree that the Lincoln Continental is one of the best concept vehicles that bowed over the course of the year. Not only was it a beautiful product, we loved the interior details on the concept car.

To us, this is what Lincoln has needed for quite some time.

Sure, it looks a bit too similar to a Bentley Flying Spur, but is that necessarily a bad thing? THINK: The Ford Explorer has sold well as a poor man's Land Rover Range Rover and the Ford Fusion has done well with its Aston Martin-inspired face. Clearly, Ford is onto something.

According to a brand manager at Lincoln, the productionalized version of the Continental is slated for a 2016 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) debut. We say bring it on!

We're looking forward to see if Ford's luxury division can bring forward a great product that will make Americans proud to drive.

...But the most important new model for the brand could be the Continental four-door sedan, which will bow at the Detroit auto show next January. It will be based on a front-wheel-drive platform; Jalal confirmed an all-wheel-drive version. A hybrid is not in the cards any time soon...

Personally, I like the styling for the most part, and I don't see the alleged resemblance to the Bentley. I hope Lincoln unleashes it without watering it down.

Let's see:

- C-Pillar
- Rear fenders
- Hood with "spine"
- Large front grille, which if it were a matrix grille would be awfully similar to Bentley's front grille of today

The similarity to the Bentley Flying Spit is tangential at best.

If anything, the Lincoln is vastly better looking.

I am sure you are all too young to remember the Ford Granada - whose ad Line - was - "Its a lot like Mercedes for a whole lot less" . This is not the first time Ford has used a German car as a basis - and of course who can forget the Cadillac Seville Bustle Trunk or rear Hood Lines similar to a Rolls Royce.

The front of the Tesla X with the arc turned down is remarkably similar to another pony car - I believe a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

There are only so many good stylists - and GM once cornered the market for them - but today - GM fails to follow through to the Market with their best designs.
And the word "BOLD" will be another laughable word the way it is being used today in styling.

Isn't the Bentley due for a major redesign or at least a refresh? What's it matter?

Bentley just has its head up its arse because they cannot get past the fact that the most iconic Continental isn't a Bentley. Now they're butt hurt that the Lincoln Continental looks like its owners are dripping money where as Bentley Flying Spur is a shapeless, formless thing.

If it looks anything like the concept. Lincoln will be better than Cadillac come back. Plus Ford doesn't build death traps like GM!

Clear resemblances to the Flying Spur.

That being said, the production model of this will be toned down to the point where it will look like exactly what it is: a fairly handsome, big, heavy, luxury sedan.
