SPIED: FIRST Pictures Of The All-New BMW X3 — It's Getting BIGGER And MORE Utility
It only feels like yesterday that BMW rolled out its very first sport-utility vehicle, the X5. It seemed like a peculiar move at the time but now look at the X5 — it's one of BMW's top sellers. After the Bavarians saw the X5's success, it was obvious that only more variants would come.

That birthed the X3 and the X1.

While the X5 was just given the all-new treatment and this week Agent 001 experienced the all-new X1, it's clear that the X3 is due. The upcoming X3 will make for its third generation.

Having driven the first-gen X3, I can tell you that it wasn't a particularly brilliant machine. It was compact, the interior was suspect and the suspension was too damn stiff. But, I will say it was fun and that six-cylinder motor liked to make noise.

The second-gen X3 improved upon the first in a big way. It grew in size and was equipped with a proper interior. But, there's still room for more.

Now that the X1 has increased in size, the X3 can move more upmarket. In the latest spy shots it's clear the vehicle has become a bit boxier for more utility and it features longer rear doors. We're sure rear seat passengers will be appreciative of the increase in space. Expect the exterior design to mimic the latest design language of BMW — integrated kidney grilles in the headlights. We think it's a pretty safe bet this all-new X3 will be an evolution rather than a revolution.

BMW and Audi are definitely in the "meet the new car same as the old car" mode. You could take the current X3, put camo on it, and this would be the result.
