Very nice and very quick. 0-60 in only 4.7 seconds.

best looking car in that segment, makes the 7 series and the S class look boring. I think it's a winner all around, manages to look luxury while still maintaining a sporty look.

Its okay. I'm sure the engineering is up there with the best but the design is bland. Looks like a stretched Ford Montego.

tifosi-

It was in an R&D test of the S8 where the 4.7 second figure came up. Audi ALWAYS underestimates their 0-60 times, because it makes them look better in the press (when their cars are actually quicker).

Jay7-

And yet you also stated you liked the A8's sleek looks in the article where it was reviewed with five stars.

I love the understated look, and the curves of the possible S63. I'd love to own either, but I'd rather beat Porsches from a straight without them knowing it was so special. Therefore, I'd take the S8.

001-

Why is there a question mark at the end of the title here? You know the S8 is a fantastic car, and that it DOES have sublime power. The "Audi A8 gets a 5 star review?" title I understand, but this is just a bit odd.

I'm also tired of seeing only grey and silver S8s. If it comes in red, sprint blue or even a dark blue color, it would look beautiful. Also, you've gotta love the two-tone interior with black and white seats!

S4cabriofox,

I've owned two new A8's.

It's good but not great.

7-series blows it away with performance, Mercedes with style.

Air conditioning system absolutely awful in warm climate areas (they know it's an issue that won't be fixed until the next gen).

70's style Buick tunnel gauges turn me off and the console is so huge there is absolutely no storage for even a cell phone.

It's great in snow, I'll give it that.

Exterior styling is as exciting as kissing your sister or a Thanksgiving dinner of pablum.

It's a four star vehicle at best in my opinion...far from perfect which it should be to get a five star.

Agent001 :

If the 7-series and S-class blew away the A8, why not buy one of those cars instead?

You list a few things you didn't like about the A8 and the overall impression you leave with your message is pretty negative.

But yet, you went ahead and bought not one, but two new A8's?? Uh, I am confused. The A8's interior so turned you off, the exterior was so boring, it was so far from perfect that you just had to buy one? And then buy another one??

anS4inOC,

I've had 3 7's, 2 A8's and an S in the last three years...

I usually buy on price and each one of those cars were good lease deals at the time so they were easy to re-sell.

If you couldn't tell by now, my car addiction is a problem.

The A8 is absolutely fantastic. I have quite a few friends who own one.

You can't come and say that the interior isn't gorgeous, 001. It makes the 750i interior and S-Class interior look pretty tacky. The S-Class may be a technologic tour de force, but the Audi's electric screen is much more elegant than the BMW/M-B double hump.

You say the S-Class is more stylish. Objection! I love both. Some people can enjoy both understated elegance like the A8 and overstated lines like the S. I happen to love both of them, and I would take either in a heartbeat if I ever wanted a big sedan.

And of course, my wife is yearning for an XJ. Oh, if only...

(-; I love the XJ (-;

By the way... I'm guessing you lease, or possibly flip your cars?

Six cars in three years doesn't sound too healthy for me.

I SAVOR my cars. I'm planning on keeping my S4 cab until 2009, at least.
