Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Land Rover Lexus, Mercedes-Benz Or Volvo - Which One Gets You To Lease At $400 A Month?
The reportage is becoming repetitive. Another month passes, and the auto industry registers another round of advancing sales, with Kelley Blue Book reporting a 12 percent increase in September. “September car and truck sales generally are coming in above forecasts, boosted by continued unleashing of pent-up demand, supported by underlying strength in the economy and continued cheap, available credit, says Michelle Krebs, senior analyst for Autotrader. “Indeed, many models are in sell-down mode to make way for their replacements, and therefore are being heavily discounted.  Still, incentives, while up some, aren’t outsized, as average transaction prices overall continue to be solid.”

Maybe I'm the oddball here, but I don't start with a dollar figure and see what I can get for my buck. I identify what inspires me, and then I figure out how to get it. And no, I'm not rich.

When leasing. You really need to look at what you will pay all in through the entire term of the lease. It's the best way to compare different offers. Advertisements on the lower side can be deceiving when they are accompanied with high down payments and low mileage terms (7500/year). Dealers are quick to advertise low monthly rates with the rest hidden in the fine print.

@jeffgall GREAT buyer beware. The annual miles is something to consider. Also, ask if there is an insurance policy against turn-in faults. Many times, unscrupulous dealers find everything wrong with a lease return to get sometimes thousands of dollars back. Beware of a balloon payment at the end as well.

Audi has been great with my lease returns. Once had to pay $50 for a chipped windshield, but that is it. On the other had, my father has been nickel and dimed by Infiniti on his past three returns. He keeps going back because he pays less than $300/month on G's/Q50.

BUY A BENZ AND LEXUS...AND LEASE EVERYTHING ELSE.

CADILLAC IS JUST A POS...WON'T EVEN LOOK AT THE DEATH TRAPS THEY BUILD.

Buy a Lexus or Acura. And tell the people "Hey, I drive radioactive Japanese cars directly imported from Fukushima!"

And also tell them "Acura and Lexus are the most luxurious cars in the world! Even more luxurious than Bugatti and Lamborghini! Because Acura and Lexus got Fukushima radiation!"

And people will laugh at you so hard.

Yes
Acura / Sales of the RLX are so terrible you should be able to get the fancy Accord for $400

BMW / Good cars and good lease rates

Cadillac / good cars @ fire-sale lease rates $400 will get you into a nice CTS ora loaded ATS

Lexus / good cars @ semi-attractive lease rates

Mercedes-Benz / probably the most compelling premium cars at the moment

No
Audi / reliability issues that will annoy even with a short-term lease

Land Rover / better than the horrible quality and reliability of the past, but still not worth even a lease

Volvo / if the agricultural turbo in the XC90 is the best that Volvo can do, screw them

Friendly Additions:

Maserati Ghibli / you can get fire-sale leases on this pretty Chrysler 300

Hyundai Genesis / worth every penny of the lease and only anti-Korean bigots and car snobs will thumb it down. This is an excellent car.

I've leased 4 Audis in a row going back to 2005. Haven't had an issue yet. Guess I'm just lucky.

Nice analysis… I would take issue on Land Rover and Audi but does not matter as so much is anecdotal with new car reliability being so good in general. Also the Chrysler 300/Maserati Ghibli sister cars is not correct as the Ghibli was based off the Quattroporte and has nothing to do with the current Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger….

We all know @MDarringer is talking out of his behind since he dislikes AUDI. What is funny is that he tries to include Hyundai when its not even mentioned in the article. Grow up and stop being so biased, no one cares about Hyundai, I don't think no one on this board even owns one.

@valhallakey the Qporte and Ghibli both heavily leverage the Chrysler 300 and the documentation to that is everywhere.

I've leased 7 Audi's (A5, A8, 2 Q7s, Q5, TT and Allroad) since 2006 for me and family members, they have been great!

Jeffgall...you should buy one then instead of leasing it. I'm sure you won't be so luck.

I have a 7 year old Q7 too. It's running great. Outside of tires and new break pads, I haven't put a dime in it. Running great.
