VW To EPA: Those 2016 Diesel Models You Were Going To Approve Had Cheat Software Too
Volkswagen has disclosed to U.S. regulators that there is additional suspect software in its 2016 diesel models that would potentially help their exhaust systems run cleaner during government tests.

Volkswagen confirmed to The Associated Press that the "auxiliary emissions control device" at issue operates differently from the "defeat" device software included in the company's 2009 to 2015 models disclosed last month. That disclosure triggered the worldwide cheating scandal engulfing the world's largest automaker.

A recent article on AutoSpies said VW would NOT submit their 2016 diesels for EPA certification. Presumably, that's to give them time to clean up their act and ensure the powers that be approve of whatever fix they propose, and that it's proven to work legitimately. The EPA certification would then just be a formality.

at least vw is admitting this. GM on the other hand has killed hundreds, injured thousands...denying anyone knew about the ignition flaw. Spent taxpayers money to pay back govt bail out, and yet NO executive has gone to prison.
