Which Automakers Continually Suck The Life Out Of The Driving Experience?

Yeah, I get it, most technological breakthroughs that materialized on the automotive scene in recent years were dictated by a bunch of variables. Most of those variables revolve around legislation, fluctuations in market demand or were simply caused by trigger-happy bean-counters in search of a quick buck.

In other words, I don't believe in a conspiracy whose aim is to populate our roads and parking lots with crossovers that only come with automatic transmissions. Not to mention that some of those are about to drive by themselves in a couple of years or so anyway. That said, I think that most carmakers have slowly started to exaggerate a bit with the mass introduction of features which, either directly or indirectly, take away from the joy of driving.

All of them...computers, electric steering, no manuals, self driving, self parking, lane control, cruise control, etc etc.

I agree

The best driving experience is in a race car - on a closed circuit off of public roads, an oval, or a drag strip - and that is where it belongs.

There are some public roads that could be close - but public laws prevent it from being the same. And that is also correct too.

It's all part of the natural evolution of technology where new technology becomes the norm. In the very near future, most drivers on the road would never have even experienced a clutch and manual and have no idea what that driving experience is like. Not long after that, some drivers will never know what driving is at all with self-driving cars coming along.

The more premium the car generally the more joy sapping they are @PUGPROUD said it well with self driving, self parking, lane control, and other nanny features.

I loved the Fusion SE (almost base) I drove for 3 months. It was a real car and was oddly engaging. Throwing RMF plates on a TVR is always fun.

What do RMF plates have to do with a unreliable piece of shit TVR? Still searching for that bigger dick? Finding it elusive?
