Study Finds As Gas Prices Fall, Americans Simply Switch From Regular To High Octane Blends

When gas prices fall, Americans reliably do two things that don’t make much sense.

They spend more of the windfall on gasoline than they would if the money came from somewhere else.

And they don’t just buy more gasoline. They switch from regular gas to high-octane.

Hmm, I have to say having a turbo motor and 108 degree summer heat my car has never had a drop of midgrade or low octane gas in it. I also use tier one gasoline which typically has detergent additives.

I think going back and forth between grades is probably more physiological than beneficial.

Strange since engines are best run with the octane specified by the manufacturer. Some must think they are giving vehicle a treat like purchasing premium beer.

I read an article that states that Americans are using money saved on gas to eat out in restaurants. Only indiots pay more money for useless high test gasoline.
