Elon Musk States Tesla's Poor Showing In CR Reliabilty Survey Was Due To Early Production Models

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk responded on Wednesday to a Consumer Reports survey citing Tesla vehicles’ reliability issues.

The survey, “Tesla Reliability Doesn’t Match Its High Performance,” released Tuesday, asserts that owning a Tesla is likely to involve a “worse-than-average overall problem rate.”  The main problem areas involved the drivetrain, power equipment, charging equipment, giant iPad-like center console, and body and sunroof squeaks, rattles, and leaks, according to the Consumer Reports press release.

Elon Musk has a pretty solid track record of creating successful companies. He thinks out of the box, sometimes seeming a bit ridiculous...but people thought Steve Jobs was ridiculous at one point.

As do a lot of arm chair quarterbacks on this site who don't know much about cars, and either can't afford or can't get financed on most of the cars that they complain about. And...I bet many of them have never invented anything or even had a good brainstorm about any sort innovation.

@socal... You seem to miss the point and go straight to the insults. The point is, teslas are being produced on the backs of the tax payers. Those same tax payers that you are saying can't afford these vehicles. While that statement is correct, you completely fail to see the irony in that it a product for the elite funded by the common man. Tesla is fair game for anyone to insult and until they are independent of the federal government and its massive subsidies, you really don't have a leg to stand on when you insult anyone that criticizes Musk or his cars. If these get bad reviews, they should be slammed accordingly.
