CAR WARS! WHO'd You Rather? An All-New Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Or A USED Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

CAR WARS! WHO'd You Rather? An All-New Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Or A USED Land Rover Range Rover Sport?
If you're in the market for something that can take a bit of a beating, has off-road capability and can comfortably seat four occupants, your choices aren't as great as you'd think. While there may be plenty of sport-utility vehicles and crossovers, it's hard to find some proper trucks these days.

We think we've pinpointed a couple of badass trucks that will almost certainly tackle any chore. The question is WHICH would you have and WHY?

In the blue corner sporting a Jeep badge, and is an automotive icon, we have the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. With four doors and an assload of utility, it's the go-to pick for those buyers looking to have some fun and not worry about their SUV's toughness. In recent years Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has done an outstanding job bringing this formerly Spartan truck into its own. Now it has a proper motor, a solid interior and it'll happily tackle whatever you throw at it.

In the red corner, equipped with an endless supply of luxury and a plethora of accoutrements, is the Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Also known for its outstanding off-road performance, the Land Rover doesn't have much to worry about in that department. Being that this is the Sport model it's a bit friendlier on the road than the Wrangler but, boy, it is expensive. Especially if you go with Supercharged route. While the Rover hasn't reached icon status, it's made a helluva impact with today's elite — it's the must-have product.

Having said all of that, WHICH SUV would you put in your driveway or garage? Would you rather have an ALL-NEW Wrangler Unlimited or a USED Range Rover Sport?

Gee - two high maintenance - notably unreliable vehicles - I suppose I would choose new - since at least Chrysler would be paying for the repairs for a while. Neither vehicle is particularly spacious inside. AS they added things to the Jeep - they made it less reliable. The Cachet of the Rover wears thin when you are being towed to the Waldorf. And neither are really trucks as well.

Ford and Gm know how to make proper trucks - and have for years. The choice is a lot better than you think. And "fun" is how you define the term.

Aside from a rough ride and wind noise, I haven't heard of many issues with the wrangler. Especially the new ones. Anything in particular?

I'm all for the negative vote thing but... How does asking a question get a bad vote? I'll ask again... Anything in particular with the jeeps? I'm not an owner or a defender. Just curious.

Jeep! I like vehicles that are dependable and durable. Used + European = recipe for disaster.

Jeep is one of the most unpleasant riding vehicles. Great in the dirt but not enjoyable on the paved roads.

Driving this weekend and saw an older RR sport bouncing on its bump stops, going 40 MPH on the highway, as its air suspension had clearly failed. The people inside looked miserable - both from the bouncing motion and also from the $4,000 repair bill they were likely facing.
