SPIED: Alfa Romeo Prepares For Its Rebirth In The States With An SUV
Alfa Romeo is a car company that we haven't had much exposure to in the United States. That's because the vehicles haven't been sold here in quite some time.

Of course, the 8C and 4C went on sale in the U.S. but you wouldn't know it because they're so rare.

While all eyes are focused on the return of a proper U.S.-market car in form of the Giulia, realistically speaking, we think that an Alfa Romeo sport-utility vehicle would probably be more appetizing to American's taste.

There's something to be said for chic, Italian design as well as a roomy interior.

Caught on camera here is the upcoming Alfa SUV. As the brand prepares to make a surge in The States, you better believe this will be a key vehicle to move some volume.

From what these spy shots depict, it's more of a crossover than a proper SUV. It appears to have a rather Fiat 500-like design and is much larger than I would have expected. I would wager this will properly seat 5 adults and even have a spacious trunk for some utility.

I predict the Giulia will be a stunning, overpriced disaster. The path to Alfa-Romeo cracking the premium market is buy-it-at-a-steal pricing, a Hyundai warranty, and then stellar reliability. The Europeans do not get an Asian work ethic.

I agree that the only real way Alfa would ever get high volume sales in the USA would be to offer their cars at an obviously lower price than the obvious competition - with a long warranty as well. However FCA has recently reduced its warranties from 100,000 miles on the powertrain to 60,000 miles. THere are too many variables with a complete new vehicle for me to take the chance to spend German money for a completely untested in the real world Alfa. Maserati already has a price problem as well.

And I hope that the SUV above is a mule using parts from a number of Fiat Vehicles that does not accurately reflect its real styling - because as it stands - how much would people be willing to pay (In the USA) for a high priced supposedly premium SUV that looks even remotely like a Fiat 500?
