SPIED: BEST Spy Shots Of The All-New Maserati Levante Yet — Do You See A Little Alfieri In It?
Ever since the unbelievable success of the Porsche Cayenne, it seems that every luxury automaker that hadn't previously been building a sport-utility vehicle did an about face. Now it seems like everyone is jumping in with both feet.

One of those automakers is Maserati.

We're thinking that if Maserati executes this product right it could very well provide the boost in volume the company has been seeking. While the Ghibli certainly did help for a bit, it seems to have lost steam. In order to make that up, the Levante needs to get in showrooms as soon as possible.

While we've seen other shots of the Levante, these are the best yet. That's because we can now see more of its face as well as its roofline. Though it's camouflaged, to us it appears to have a gentle sloping back. It's not that severe from what I can tell. The face looks very much like the Alfieri concept car that received lots of praise on the auto show circuit.

How do YOU think Maserati's Levante is shaping up?

...Through the camouflage that remains we can see the high-riding, four-door Maserati will feature tradition SUV proportions, with a long bonnet and sloping roofline...

...He revealed that it would be based on “100% Maserati parts”, and would not borrow anything from other Fiat-Chrysler brands, including Jeep. To that end it will be based on the same platform that underpins the Ghibli and Quattroporte, will be sized and priced between those models, and use the same V6 and V8 engines, transmissions and all-wheel drive system as those cars...

The Maserati is already partially based on the Chrysler300 Mercedes platform so pure Maserati it never will be.

Maybe Maserati has the cachet as a Ferrari competitor in Europe (Or slightly under Ferrari) - but in the USA - people only remember the failed attempts by Chrysler which were truly horrendous!

SO Maserati needs to establish its heritage before it will be able to create a credible competitor to Porsche. That would include a platform not based on decades old Chrysler/Mercedes parts - superior performance and reliability (Although I admit that reliability is subjective in the uber car market - and exclusivity creating desirability. Amen!

FCA is positioning Alfa-Romeo and Maserati wrong in the market.

Maserati should be aimed squarely at the offerings from Mercedes and BMW. The Ghibli should be priced like the E Class or 5 Series but it is $20K more expensive. The Giulia should have been a Maserati.

Alfa-Romeo should have been resucitated as an Italian Subaru i.e. near-premium with AWD and turbos sprinkled in. I'd NOT have resurrected the name "Giulia" but instead gone with "Giorgio" to signal newness while also maintaining heritage.

As for the Levantate (sic), NOT basing it off the Grand Cherokee and instead cobbling it together from the bones of the outdated Chrysler 300 is moronic.
