SPIED: Lexus' All-New LF-LC-Inspired Sports Coupe Nabbed In Europe For The FIRST Time — V8 Hybrid Power FTW?
The Lexus LF-LC was a car that shook the world when it debuted. It was gorgeous on the outside and looked stellar on the inside. Everyone was abuzz about the Candy Apple Red beauty, but it wasn't until it showed up in an amazing blue down under in Australia that it rocked my world.

Problem is this was years ago!

Finally, it appears our Japanese friends have gotten their house in order and the first prototypes have been spotted. Though the first car was spied by a friend of AutoSpies, Matt Farah — in SoCal — the first European prototype has been spotted.

Given that it's camouflaged exactly the same and is equipped exactly the same as the first car, it wouldn't surprise us if it was the same car from SoCal.

According to Autocar, the latest word on the street suggests that Lexus will be aiming for this vehicle to be a "halo" car along the lines of the LFA. This time around though it will be more attainable and priced along the lines of a Porsche 911 Turbo, so they say.

Power is rumored to come from a V8 that will make over 480 horsepower and is aided through an electric motor. Not much more has been said aside from that. IF the L brand can use the RC F and GS F's motor and couple that with batteries, we may be in heaven.

Let's see what happens though. Toyota's luxury division has been known to disappoint with performance products as of late.

...The 2+2 model, which was previewed by the LF-LC concept car at the 2012 Detroit motor show, will act as a flagship model for Toyota's luxury brand and will add Lexus to the growing ranks of car makers looking to challenge the £120,000 Porsche 911 Turbo.

Even from these early spy pictures, it is clear the production car will keep the same overall shape as the concept, albeit with some of its styling features slightly toned down. However, Toyota boss Akio Toyoda is said to be a big fan of the concept and has insisted that the production car doesn't stray too far from it...

Why do LEXUS always say "The production the XXXX will not be a huge volume [car] for Lexus"? They said this on the LFA, RC-F, GS-F and now on this. Is it because they cannot move the volume at this price levels?
Brand new LFAs (a few years old) are still sitting in dealer showrooms.
Maybe they need to stay selling entry level luxury cars (NX, IS, ES. RX).

It's obviously because these are all image building cars for the brand to create the impression of speed, sport, power, and engineering that they hope will trickle down.

Alfa Romeo did precisely with the Giulia QV. The QV will most decidedly NOT be the mainstream Giulia, but the residual value of implying that the lesser Giulias with Chrysler 200 engines under the hood somehow are are red-blooded is the goal.

As for the LFA, it was stupidly priced. No one pays Ferrari prices for a Toyota. Had the LFA been slotted between the Corvette and Viper in price it would (1) have sold well and (2) would have been a tremendous halo car for Lexus.

MDarringer the LFA was even more way expensive than a comparable Ferrari or any of the super cars at the time and even to this day when it came out which makes it a joke. At $375,000 MSRP for a Toyota/Lex are you kidding me and there's still a bunch of brand new ones out there for sale!

By the way nice car but I doubt they will be stealing any sales from 911 Turbo clients.

Wow at first glance I could've sworn that was a Pontiac sunfire with a tacky wrap

Anything will be an improvement over the last SC. What a mess. Even worse than the HS.

Googled Lexus HS. I did not know it was built on the same platform as the Scion tC using a Toyota Corolla engine. Imagine the HS with a spindle grille.

Beautiful looking car. By the way, the LFA is a fantastic car that turns heads much more than any car Mercedes, Audi and BMW have out , save the I8. That counts for something, not including the technology used on the LFA which actually works when you need it.
