REVIEW: Toyota FJ Cruiser

Since I own a 4Runner (as well as a Nissan Z), I wanted sooo much to like this truck. Instead, it just reminds me of a cartoon rolling down the highway.

Since I don't have much catch right now it was either that, the Xtrra or the H3. After all the test drives I was kind of infavor of the FJ, because it's better looking and than the Xterra and better in every way against the H3. (that's a Hummer for the wimps)

Since I was always a jeep man, I have decided to wait on the 4door Unlimited Wrangler.

I hope the next generation fj will have 4 doors and a sunroof. They have been able to keep the price down , so that a good thing....

I agree with 001, the back seat is extremely difficult to get in and out. The MSRP is around $23,000, but it's very difficult to find one under $32,000.

Looks good in black. The blue and yellow are somewhat cartoonish(upshift).

I like the siver FJ. I hope that the next generation FJ will also have heated/ventilated front seats. And this is probably too much to hope for, but SmartAccess as well.

I didn't like the ambulance style back door. It would be nice to see an option like the ridge line (duel tailgate)

lexusis350, i think heated ventilated is too much for such a cheap car.
(31000 dollars for a top end one in the uk would buy you a 1.8 opel vectra, or 3/4 of a rav 4).
and you wouldn't be able to hose the interior, would you?

This car is selling surprisingly well for a cartoonish wannabe-Wrangler. Lexus fans, don't come back and yell at me and say it's a retro rendition of the original Land Cruiser. The original LC was after the Wrangler, too.

The first FJ was around way before Jeep. I think Jeep is the wannabe. And the FJ has an original design. Jeeps look exactly like smaller Hummers in the front.

FYI for all FJ fans, Toyota is rumoured to make the FJ into a convertible. Don't have any idea though of when we'll be seeing that.

Ive seen 1 yesterday in blue. At first glance i thought it was a hummer h3,(it was at night) but when it passed me and i saw the rear, i found out its a toyota. I not a fan for retro thats y i dont like this. Also im not a fan of shoe boxes :P dats y i dont like this or the hummer or the wrangler. IMO.

FJ was toyotas Jeep. Jeep came first because our USA goverment needed a 1/4 ton off road personal carrier. What became Jeep was the answer.. If you want a Four door FJ buy a FourRunner that its based off of. Haven't really liked or disliked this. But would look at it if I was in the market for something like this.

The Willy's Jeep came out during WWII. Toyota itself had just been established less than a decade and a half earlier, in 1933. If it came out before the Jeep, I'd like to know the year, please. Because I highly suspect it did not.

Why does everybody care so much about who came out with what how many years before the other company? WHY?!

The Jeep no doubt came out before the FJ, or even BJ, for that matter. FJ, early 60s; BJ, 1951.

This is the first Willys Jeep (which is a Ford btw, since Ford and Willys had to work together to mass produce it because of the limited capabilities of the single manufacturing facility Willys had in Ohio):

Lessons learned with the CJ-2 led to the development of the first full-production CJ, the 1945-1949 CJ-2A. Like the CJ-2 and the Military version, the CJ-2A featured a split windshield. An early column shifter and full floating rear axle gave way to the more familiar floor shift T90 and semi-floating rear axle. In the end, 214,202 CJ-2A's were produced.

In terms of timeline, they are not far off, though... if it matters.
